Our school district announced their plans this week.
For the hybrid it will either be A/B days or AA/BB days with Wednesday off for cleaning. On the 3 days the kids are home, they will have asynchronous learning (posted assignments, no interaction). K-1 will get to go 4x a week.
For the full remote it will be fully synchronous and the kids will be required to be online at certain times.
What does AA/BB days mean?
For AA/BB - kids will either go M-T or Th-F. for A/B it's M-Th and T-F. So if this is the case(which is likely since for cleaning purpose it would make sense to have kids there 2x in a row) that kids won't interact with their teacher for 5 days (if you include the weekend)...

For districts that are able to have smaller class sizes are there enough actual classrooms? I have heard some districts are using non-traditional spaces to form classrooms including in some cases basement rooms with no windows.
Our district will not have a classroom without windows. My district is planning to be back full time with class sizes that are larger like 23. Definitely not ideal and doesn't allow for 6 feet distancing.
I have several friends who are teachers who say being live streamed would be a nightmare and they don't think teachers unions would agree to that.
So many unknowns. I'm anxious to hear from the governor so we will finally have a clearer picture of what our children can expect with the upcoming school year.

My DS is starting middle school during this.
It's sad that the full remote option sounds better - as it will be M-Th interactive and Fri catch up (but you need to be there on time which is really easy for working parents to do - especially working teacher parents!)

Districts can only use spaces that are approved by NYSED. My district stated this is why they can not rent out spaces at local churches or large community spaces.
My home and work district will both be live streaming if you choose the virtual option.

Why would they not agree to it? Because there would be a ton more accountability regarding the performance of the teachers?
This statement is amazing in so many ways. If the teachers do their job properly there should be no worry.

This is the plan for my kid's school as well. They are really trying their best to educate the kids and keep them safe. Who knows what will happen. WE have another survey we all have to take to finalize everything too.

We are in Queens. My kids school is using the 2nd model for NYC. 3 cohorts based on school population and capacity. This means they will be in school 1 day a week for 1 week and 2 days a week for 2 weeks and then back to 1 day for the 3rd week.
They won’t be in school more than 2 days per week and every 3rd week 1 day. Rest of days are remote. I am going back into the office starting next week. DH is still working from home and majorly flipping out (about me having to go back in, kids being home, etc). Either he will have a heart attack or we will wind up divorced. Kids are all over the place. Shoot me now.

What's the plan for no school?
My home district has developed a great plan. They had a detailed forum last night going over specifics.
30% of families have agreed to do virtual learning. They are hiring a new principal to oversee the virtual school. There will be live classes every single day.
Students in grade 1-5 will go to school every single day. They will be in groups of 12-14 students. The teacher will rotate between two pods. K will go every other day.
Students in MS and HS will follow a hybrid model. There will be live streaming of all classes on days when students do not attend school.
60% of parents will drop students off at school and 50% of parents will arrange to pick their kids up to minimize exposure on buses.
My work district has only sent out a skeleton plan so I have no idea what is going on there.

Holy cow, this is a nightmare!!!
Our secondary plan came out, so my daughter, going into 8th, will be on an A/B schedule. It's based on Alphabet. A-K goes on A days, L-Z goes on B days. They stay with the same cohort group. No more than 15 in a class. No sweating in gym, so minimal activity, keep backbacks next to desk. No cafeteria. Recess is outdoors, must stay 6 feet apart. No masks unless leave desk. No music lessons in the school. On the day they aren't in school, they remote learn. It's supposed to be some live instruction, etc. Temp checks before getting on bus. Encouraged to drop off (mine has never rode the bus).
Periods shortened by an hour due to the hour it's going to take for all the wellness checks. If a student is driven by another family and one of those students doesn't pass the fever screening, all from that vehicle are sent home. Temp checks are done from the car before getting out it made it sound like. If your child is sick with anything at all, they need a Covid test, or a doctor's note saying it's not Covid in order to come back. Even if it's a stomach bug. This all sounds like prison to be honest. But, mine is eager to go back. So it is what it is!

Definitely not. It's also extremely bad for working teacher parents who have to work 5 days in person and deal with these crazy schedules.

Our district wont do it for liability issues regarding students in the class. If a student is disruptive, rtc then it will all be on video.

I’m in CT. The most recent update is that K-5 have the option of going in person every day. Grades 6-12 will be divided into 2 groups alphabetically with one group going to school M/Th and the other group going Tu/Fr. On remote days, they will be live streaming although there’s no guidance yet on how much time they’ll be spending live streaming. We’re expected to submit a return to school form with our intention on whether each child will be starting the year in person or full remote by Friday. I think we also need to include our decision on transportation.

Live streaming also infringes on students’ privacy. If a student has extra support from an aide or another teacher, or the use of any fidget gadgets or what not, that is now on display for parents to see.
Also, when I held classes on Zoom this year parents would sit next to their child and email me after to nitpick everything. I called on another student twice but never called on their child. I have Johnny ten extra seconds to answer but only gave Sally five. Why is their child receiving a 2 on the report card for math when CLEARLY their child is way above Johnny who never answers questions correctly.
I also had to address behavior, as I do in the classroom, and parents would get on my case for that. I had students sleeping during the Zoom, playing with toys, making faces in the camera. All of the reminders I would give in the classroom I have on Zoom, parents did not want to see their children reminded of how to behave appropriately. Even if I wasn’t signaling a child out, if I said “Please put all toys away so you don’t get distracted”, I got emails.

Hopefully with our three options we can have full day, full time with ALL the grades. I don’t think it is fair to say elementary can be full but upper grades on an A/B schedule. Makes no sense. They don’t share the same spaces.

Probably to be able to pick up materials and basically just meet the teacher before going remote.
