You're right. Unfortunately we cannot control the actions of every person in the country. We can only control our own.
I think part of it too is that the powers that be have been lying and leading us on for so long that people are just saying "fluck it." Two weeks turned into 5 months and counting with no end in sight. Instead of continuing to try and fool us with the "everything should be fine in January 2021, offices will open, sports will start, etc." fake narrative, I think a more effective strategy would be to give us a goal. Like just for an example, "when the infection rate is X and deaths are Y for Z days, we can stop wearing masks and go to a concert." I don't care what X, Y and Z are, but people just want some certainty, some hope, something to motivate them to do the right thing to get to those numbers!
Coumo did that telling us we needed to hit a plateau and then we would be ok. It’s all a power game now for him and honestly can we trust what is going on anymore?

Returning to the Office
I feel like Cuomo changed though after seeing how other states handled reopening. It was a disaster there. It hasn’t been in New York

I don't think most schools will open in the Fall. The ones that do will have to open in a manner that is inconvenient, stressful, and won't resemble school as the kids knew it before. Most will likely be forced to close within a short time. We will be back in lockdown. It didn't have to be this way. But the premature reopenings, due to other petulant nationwide tantrums and the disregard for rules has made it such. I take no pleasure in saying this, and I hope I am wrong.
But if you read what the experts are saying now, it's clear. People must understand that the science and the natural consequences of our actions will not yield to petulance. As a mom, I am so sad about this.
Also, words like "peak," etc. are relative and should not be used like absolutes. They are based on past actions, ad if past actions don't continue, we ware working with live data in real time that will change out from under us. People need to understand that there are no guarantees, no promises that can be kept, no matter what we do or don't do, and no firm predictions, especially when society acts with disregard.
The rejection of science, the harassment of public officials, and the demands that doctors and scientists be held accountable for things like underfunding of education, and holes in the social safetynet are sickening.

I trust the stories from the medical professionals in the hospitals being inundated with Covid patients. I don't care how many times a govenor or President tell us everything is back to normal and our economy is doing great or that there are no issues.
Yes, NY and NJ are in much better positions than were we were a few months ago but as long as other states continue to have lax rules and their hospitalizations go up the more likely we will once again have to rollback. We have already started seeing some cases originating from out of state.
I am not saying not to live your life but also don't be so naive to think it won't get worse again.
We all get how hard it is to be stuck in the house with nowhere to go but how many times are we supposed to go through the vicious cycle of reopening and closing How painful will that become?

I am back in the office, in Manhattan. We came back June 22.
I am downtown and I feel the city is still pretty empty. I commute via express bus and there hasn't been more than 10 on any bus since I've been back.
Thank you. It is nice to hear first hand what it is like in Manhattan.
Do you live in in the city or NJ?
I live on SI (so yes, the city lol)
Downtown is empty. But there's also no tourists obviously.

Our Company did a soft reopening in the beginning of July for anyone who wanted to come back. Then in mid July they opened the office with a rotating schedule with one week on and one week at home. They will maintain 50% capacity. We have an office in NYC and long island

The state is stretched too thin and any rational leader or resident should be terrified.
They opened too soon. They have widespread disregard of regulations. A quick look around the world (or even parts of the U.S.) shows that it didn't have to be this way, but there they are.
What more do we need to see or know?

Returning to the Office
I work for an aviation company and all non essential workers are working from home until at least Labor Day. I prefer working from home until the virus is under some control. Where I work there are to many transient people coming in and out of the office and I don't feel comfortable being near them. I have been doing my job from home since middle of March and no hiccups at all working from home, hoping that will be an option.

Returning to the Office
Ive been back in office since April. I hated working from home and was actually getting depressed. I know everyone is different. Back then it was just 3 of us. We are fully opened now but some cant until their childcare opens, etc. Currently daily it is just 9 of us more than adequately social distanced. Around 10 fall into the caregiver category so are still home. Yes, it is a small office in terms of staff.

Go look at the Florida Dept of Health website, it’s updated daily.
