Graduation gift?

Sorry - another gift amount question

What is the “standard “ gift amount for a high school graduation, for a very close relative? Was thinking $200, but just curious if I’m way off base

Thanks!

The *very close relative* makes all the difference. I’d give $300 but I wouldn’t consider $200 a bad amount.

Thanks

Just to add - the gift is just from me, no DH or kids, if that makes a difference

Re: Graduation gift?

Wow I'm a real cheapskate.

Unless it was my own child I wouldn't give more than $150. I rarely give more than $100, and that's from my family.

I didn't even get $300 from most guests at my wedding so there is no way in hell I'd give that to an 18 year old kid.

Re: Graduation gift?

Standard HS grad gift is $50
Closer friend / family $100

If it were my niece/nephew? $150 with an additional Keepsake gift (Etsy)

Re: Graduation gift?

I think $200 is generous for a hs graduation. I think $100 is fine too.

I think 200.00 is very generous from one person for a graduation. I would give 50.00-100.00. But, right about now I'm thinking I didn't give enough to a few.

Yes, it's my nephew/godson. I do have a few HS Grad related little gifts/keepsakes to go with the check too.

I wound up giving him $200. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't so far off base - in either direction. Thanks everyone!

Don’t worry I am cheapskate too!!
I’m with you on your gift amount.

My standard wedding gift is $75-$100 per person going when I give out no matter the location!
