Sachem BOE member under fire for racist comments against BLM
I saw this on facebook and thought it was pretty egregious that a sitting board member would be so flagrant in their comments. She apparently kept at it and has her profile public. Hope she gets booted.

So, honest question, if you do not 100% support the BLM movement, you are inherently racist? Is the movement without fault or criticism? She isn't saying Black Lives DON'T matter. She is commenting on the hypocrisy of BLM protesters killing an 8 year old black girl.
What's the point of free speech if you cannot use it?

I don't think she was necessarily being racist. An 8 year old black child was murdered near a BLM protest. This child's own mother came out and said that her black daughter's life meant nothing to them- she was killed while riding in a car with her mother to go play at her cousin's house. The black mayor of Atlanta said what is happening there right now is making BLM lose all credibility, she flat out said that they are more of a threat than the Atlanta PD right now. So, no, I do not think speaking out in rage over the death of an innocent little child is racist. That being said, in her position, she should never have said a word. Certain occupations are held to a higher standard. Her personal beliefs had no place being put on the internet.

Nope this just shows how you twist what people say. Others seem to have read her statement and understood where she was coming from.
Sad you have to throw the racist thing out there all the time especially when a child gets murdered and that is all you can say.

According to what I have read, protesters have been occupying the Wendy's where Rayshad Brooks was killed last month by a police officer. They put up barriers illegally blocking traffic. The mayor of Atlanta ordered them taken down, but they were put right back up. This child's mother tried to drive around the barriers, and they shot at the car multiple times.

I think she has the right to think that way. It does not make her racist. Unfortunately though, when you hold a public position like that, especially when you are suppose to be representing all your community, then it was not right for her to post that. Sometimes people just need to stay off social media.
