Re: Antibody testing?

We got tested in the beginning of May. We were negative.

We had an employee who was very sick in January and we all got it. Some worse than others. One was in the hospital with pneumonia. That original employee tested + for antibodies. So we assumed we would too. Nope. Though, supposedly it doesn’t last long so from January to May, they could have been gone already.

The reason I went for the antibody test was because if it did come back +, I’d at least know that Even though what I had Was pretty bad, I was ok and got through it. So my fear of it would be a lot less.

Re: Antibody testing?

My BIL and work colleague both live in the city and got Easy appointments. Both were convinced they had it just from being in the city but both were negative.

I want to because both me and DH were mildly ill early March. Mine was stomach but his was a bad cold. It could have been stress/cold but my stomach really felt off and I’ve read that can be a symptom. But this mild curiosity isn’t enough to make me act on it.

This was a good reason to get tested for sure. But it’s scary. Could the test be inaccurate? Do antibodies go away so quickly? I know that no one knows, just interesting and scary too.

My kids got pretty sick in Jan with high fevers and so did a friend in VA and NJ. I think there was a bad virus going around at that time. So hard to know!

Antibody testing?

I just went for my annual physical and covid antibody testing was part of the standard blood work. I was extremely happy about that!

Re: Antibody testing?

I was told by my doctor that the antibody tests have a low accuracy rate. I’m not sure how they can be sure, but with so many people reporting all the classic covid symptoms and testing negative I believe there are false negatives.

My dr said it could be that the antibodies were gone quickly which is why you hear reports of people getting it a second time. Or it could be whatever we had wasn’t it and to be glad to know that whatever we are doing is working because we didn’t catch it. Nobody really knows anything honestly lol

I was talking o my neighbor saying i was disappointed I didn’t have the antibodies and she said she doesn’t want it because nobody knows what it can do in the future. Like with mono causing Epstein Barr, chronic fatigue & fibromyalgia - that’s forever. And That was a great point. I have EB and fibromyalgia because of it. it’s not a good time.

Re: Antibody testing?

It was part of my DHs routine bloodwork when he got a physical last month. He didn't ask for it, it was just on the lab script

I would have sworn I had Covid at end of December....was so disappointed antibodies were negative. I really wanted to donate my plasma to help people if it was possible.

Re: Antibody testing?

I recently read an article that the testing was only 50% accurate.... I really wish they would nail down both the testing for virus and antibody testing so it would be more accurate.
