VIOLENT Protests spreading to suburbs
Have you heard this will happen in your towns? There are internet/Facebook warnings that llooters are planning to "march through the privileged neighborhoods?" It has happened in the suburbs of Philly and Chicago, so I am not lying when I say it is worrying me a lot.

There was a protest in my town yesterday. The organizer used very inflammatory words in her event post but eventually changed the wording after getting horrible backlash.
It went from 4-7/8 pm by the time everyone was gone. They stayed in one spot. Was mostly peaceful (some bottle throwing , kicking cars, laying in middle of the street and of course the “kill p*g cops” signs (because that helps the cause)
SCPD was there, helicopter overhead keeping a watchful eye as well. Mainly bc of the posts within the event causing people to feel unsafe.
But like I said, it was mostly peaceful. I’ve seen a bunch popping up that we’re also most peaceful. I truly believe the posts about coming into “white“ neighborhoods , take their sh$t, etc etc is people fanning the flames and NOT true protesters

There was a completely peaceful protest in Huntington yesterday. I think there’s another one scheduled for today

Do you realize how ridiculous you sound posting that you are worried about protesters coming to your town? This is white priveledge showing. I am honestly aghast at this comment and to be honest a bit disturbed no one has pointed this out to you. This is why we are protesting. Systemic racial bias. There was a beautiful protest in my town on Sunday. No arrests, no looting, arson, or vandalism. People of all races. The protesters should come to your town and you should join and speak to them. PEACEFULLY!!!

The problem here is everyone (especially the news stations) are lumping protesters and looters into 1. So when they say “protesters broke into multiple stores and set fire to xyz” and then people hear protesters are coming to their neighborhood, all they think of is OMG they are going to wreck our town too!

Yes, I meant violent protests. I think peaceful protests are absolutely fine. However, there is serious looting and violence taking place. That cannot be denied. Just turn on the news. It is a scary time.

Did you see the sheriff in Polk County? He has warned people of others who are now going to try and go into homes and telling the perpetrators that they will get shot.
It sounds like most protests here on the island have been civil but that is not true if all.

Yes 2 times in the town next to us (they weren’t violent), and one happening in my town this Sunday.

 I'd do the same if anyone came into my home looking to cause us harm. No one has the right to go into someones home. How is that justice?
I joined a few of the groups for local protests on FB and there are a few people in each one trying to incite violence. Creating posts on how to harass the small business owners. They are reminded that it is supposed to be peaceful, but the amount of people egging them on is absurd. If I lived nearby I would be scared.

Yes - there were threats this weekend that they were going to loot homes in my town since there are a lot of law enforcement officers that live here.
Nothing has happened yet but this earlier curfew does frighten me that it may.

I've seen rumors that some people try to run with but zero actual news reports about stores or towns being looted or bricks thrown at cars, or any other violence. It's just more spreading of panic to take away from the people who are out for a legitimate and necessity cause.

How is a peaceful protest "targeting" a town? I'm not familiar with the inflammatory wording which it seems some residents thankfully pushed back on but I see a peaceful protest as a sign of strength and positivity, not something your town had to endure bc they were targeted.

It wasn't originally meant to be peaceful. That's what I mean by targeted. They planned on violence and even planned on what to do when the police teargassed them. The event page looks nice and peaceful now.

Oh, I thought the OP was referring to all the local FB events that have been organized by people around here. I haven't seen anything like that article describes on FB yet.
So far I've only seen a virtual flyer in a fb group that was made to look like it was coming from BLM. It looked fake. I think a lot of these random posts are created by people and groups that are trying to instigate and then other people see it, get scared, and run with it.
We need to separate these groups of people. Protesters are protesting (mostly peacefully) and looters are looting. I see posts all the time even from the media with inaccurate headlines like "protester runs off with tv". That's not a protester. That's an opportunist doing what they do best.

Sorry but you are obviously not fully informed calling her “ridiculous.” In the past 24 hours we have received emails from local town officials warning us of the possibility of exactly this happening. Yesterday there were disgusting posts all over Twitter detailing their plans. They came but the police were ready for them and they were not successful and a few were arrested. They were arrested in a residential area. We had helicopters circling our area half the night. There were threats of looting and burning down houses that had American flags. Also of targeting specific wealthy neighbourhoods. These protests that may have noble intentions have incited a whole group that has very violent and insidious intentions. The amount of hatred is scary and dangerous but it’s on both sides! Get your facts straight before you insult someone,
