Well I did it. I finally went out.
I had been watching the numbers and I decided I felt OK to go to a restaurant this evening.
I saw my SO which was really great, but strange because we couldn’t really hold hands, etc. We did give a quick hug at the end. Hey, it’s been two months.
We picked a beer garden on the outskirts of Munich. They had the tables spaced out really well and social distancing was practiced all around. My SO has been basically working from home the past week or two, so I felt the time was right and I was comfortable.
It was outdoors only. Everyone was very aware of their space, which is abnormal here since they don’t seem to get personal space here. Maybe Covid has made people realize that personal space is OK. I ordered total comfort food— pork roast with crackling, potato dumplings, and cabbage salad. It was so great to finally go out and do my favourite thing— restaurants. Now, I’ll wait two weeks and see what happens.
One thing that was strange was that the restaurant made us sign something about our health and give a phone number. I’m guessing this is for tracing. But they have been on top of things here, so I felt it was the right thing to do.
Sorry, I just had to get that out!

It really was great. It was much better than talking to my students on Zoom or to the supermarket cashier.

Things have kind of been on the upswing here. I have a lot of work coming in because online teaching seems to be something that will give me more work in the future.
So a message from the future, things will be better in two weeks’ time as long as you take it slowly.

I can see things slowly getting better here too. Not so much in NY yet, but other states.
And business is starting to get better for my team as well... slowly as states start to open up.
Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel...finally.

And hey, if anything, hopefully we've all gotten better at hand washing, hygiene, etc!

That's great! Good for you! Great that you were able tog out and really appreciate and enjoy the time with your SO (and the good food too!)

Awesome. I went out to pick up some homemade masks and it was wonderful to get out in the world to someplace different than food shopping. Glad you were able to get out for a bit. It does really help. I see it with my son who never gets out as he gets very nasty. When he went for walks by himself he was so more pleasant.

Maybe you should have planned ahead and lived in a country with more respect for personal space. Or, you should have anticipated the pandemic and found a boyfriend closer to you. Now you are complaining for your life choices.
Do you see how ridiculous the above sounds? You need to think about how you come across to others, maybe you’d have more people in real life to befriend and wouldn’t feel so alone. Your posts are nasty to parents but you put something like this and want others to support you and your choices?

I was not complaining about it. I’m well aware of the choices I made. I have lots of friends in real life. Not sure how you came to that conclusion. I do not see any of them at the moment because of the pandemic, so where my bf lives is a moot point.
