Please excuse the stupidity - computer question

The other night I had one two many white claws during a happy hour zoom and spilled a little on my laptop computer keyboard. Now the bottom few letters - NM.- won't work. Of course my computer has a repair plan through Best Buy but they aren't open.


Can I buy a keyboard that will attach to a lap top? I tried looking but I really don't know what I am looking at. I'm so not tech savvy.

I do believe you can--though I'm not certain. I've broken a key before though, and I remapped it.

On my old laptop, I broke the "L" key, so I remapped it to a key that I never used (I can't remember which one). When I pressed that key, it would then make an L.

Yes! I once bought an external keyboard it was USB.
So you attach the USB into a USB port and the keyboard works through that.
Just like my USB wireless mouse.
It worked great.
I had done it because typing on a laptop all day was aggravating my carpal tunnel.
The full external keyboard was much better.

yes you can it will attach through the USB ports.

I only use my keyboard and separate mouse when working I cant stand using the ones on the laptop and I am definitely less productive for some reason when i have to use the laptop ones.

I also attach the laptop to a monitor
so really i use my laptop as a desktop

My main computer at home is a laptop with an external keyboard, external mouse, and two big monitors (plus the laptop monitor). My work laptop is similar. I only by laptops now. They have a built-in battery backup, and I can move them around if needed. When I don't need to move them, they act just like a desktop.

Any keyboard you buy will be a USB keyboard that just plugs into the laptop. Just find one that looks comfortable (or find a cheap one just to get by).

For a short-term solution, you can use the ALT key and the number pad to type letters.

Hold the ALT key, and use the number pad to enter the code from the chart, and it will display the character. It's also a way to type characters that aren't on they keyboard.

Yes I brought a regular size keyboard to use with my laptop. Connects with a USB adapter that it is wireless

My life has been improved exponentially. A quick trip to Target and I have this wireless set up and it is WAY BETTER than just the lap top. Thank you!

Also, I was so happy to be in Target. LOL
