73 NY Children Sick With Rare COVID-Related Inflammatory Illness
Have you guys seen this? 
73 kids are now sick in NY with a rare inflammatory illness “likely linked” to Covid19.
Cases have also presented in Chicago. Some kids test positive for Covid, others (but not all) have Covid antibodies. There is one death, one possible death and others that are hospitalized.

So scary... what’s crazy is that the kids could have been asymptomatic when they had the actual virus, so nobody even knew they had it, but then up to 6 weeks later they have this excessive immune response that triggers inflammation that can kill them. It’s mind boggling. The after effects can be worse than the disease itself. What they’re learning about this virus shows it’s much worse than we initially thought for all age groups.

Tragically, a 5 year old in NYC has died.
While they are not releasing much info, my bff who is a doctor at an LI hospital has stressed that the kids with this syndrome DO NOT have underlying conditions. These were healthy kids.

I believe 6 others out of the15 also tested positive for Covid antibodies, so they were previously infected (probably asymptomatic).

I think it is too early to say. Things change dramatically from week to week, September we could be in a completely different place. I want to hear more details. I read one of the 3 children may not have died from this illness. The hospital in Westchester where he died said they now need to do more research and testing, it is too soon to say that is what he had. As with everything else, still too much unknown.

Nope. There is no proof right now it is even Covid 19 and every article says that. Just more fear tactics so Cuomo can push up our date.

Nope. There is no proof right now it is even Covid 19 and every article says that. Just more fear tactics so Cuomo can push up our date.

For preschool? Unless it’s a daycare situation they’ll be perfectly fine without it.
Aside from the social aspects, I’m sure your kids are learning the same things at home without any effort.

I would have to weigh things out when it gets closer. I work, I suppose my husband could stay home but I would want to find an online school that’s easier for the kids to do. It’s not ideal, we would lose my husbands income, but if kids start dropping like flies (which I pray to God isn’t the case) then I would consider it...

I’ve been considering whether there’s a way we could do this. We both work, and not from home, so we’d have to make some major changes. I’m going to have to see what the situation is like as we get closer to September. I’m definitely concerned.

I’ve been homeschooling both DSs since this past Sep because of the elimination of religious exemptions. I’m thankful my hubby and I can make it work, he’s a plumber and has his own business. We’re planning to move to a state where religious exemptions are still accepted (possibly to SC) and because of the kind of state NY has become but it won’t happen for at least 5 yrs. If we do end up moving, my children will go back to public schools. I must say though, being a SAHM or SAHD is not the only way to make homeschooling work, I know many, many families where both parents work FT and they’re still able to homeschool their children, it’s certainly not easy but it is doable.

The families that I know either have a family member -a grandparent, an aunt, etc- to watch their kids (sometimes they’re partially in charge of the homeschooling), other times the parents are able to switch their work schedules so the kids can always stay with at least one parent at home, I also know families where 1 parent is able to work PT instead of FT, some are able to work some hrs from home. I also know some parents where they’re able to hire a babysitter for a day while they work (on that day). My mil actually helps a friend by watching her kid 1 and sometimes 2 days a week so she can go to work in the city. I also know families that have multiple children and the older ones stay with the younger ones while the parents work. For those parents that are in charge 100% of their kids’ homeschooling and work FT, they homeschool at the end of the day or during the weekend. One of the good things about homeschooling is that u do not have to teach ur child 6, 7 hrs daily like it happens in school, u’ll most likely cover everything u need to teach him/her in 3 hrs, max 4 cause it’s one to one, there’s no distractions, and u get to cover the material much faster. It takes me about 3 hrs to teach both of my children (4 and 7 yo).

So it sounds like unless you have family to care for your child, you need to hire a full time nanny who also has the ability to teach.
That sounds cost prohibitive for the majority of families and a ridiculous expense even for those who can afford it.

I am so happy someone said this.
That is the line they ALWAYS GIVE after someone is vaccine injured right after getting a vaccine. Always.
And yet now all of a sudden, correlation equals causation? No.
Maybe its related to Covid and maybe its not. We will not know for a very long time, if ever.

Here in NY, the parents (or at least 1 parent) have to be responsible for the education of their children. They do not have to be the ones providing 100% of their education but at least the majority of it (even if it’s 51%). What some parents do is that they enroll their children in homeschool coops, or a family member provides some of the homeschooling. Some also opt to hire a tutor to teach specific subjects like calculus for example, sometimes a parent will gather 1 or 2 more parents so their children can all learn the same subject from the same tutor but there are limitations when doing this, I believe the group cannot exceed more than 4 children. What some veteran homeschooling families tell me is that with time, their children become independent learners, meaning they get to a point where u don’t have to monitor every single thing they learn, they pretty much responsibly learn on their own. What was interesting to me is that the children of those families are already in college. I’m not there yet so I can’t speak from my own experience...my children are still little.
