Do you think kids will be back in summer?
I already have in my mind that school will be closed until June. But what about summer? My youngest goes 12 months. I really hope for summer at least he can get back to normalcy and all his therapies. This has been really tough. He doesn’t understand.

I’ve been wondering the same. God, I hope so. I think they will. We have all been left to fend for ourselves. No one is closing nursing homes and telling unprepared adult children they have to suck it up and care for their incapacitated parent, but people think nothing of telling unprepared parents that they have to care for their similarly impaired children. My son has regressed terribly, and it’s very sad ??

I am hoping for June or atleast summer !
Honestly so desperate for school
No one gets it , getting so depressed with the kids

Yes someone told me they can bear the kid screaming but not the jumping
As if I had a choice as to how my kid will behave
And no thought to even how we can manage
It's all me , I .
Well whatever. If anyone wore our shoes even for a day and survive let them talk then .

No one gets it at all, and no one cares to. Have you guys tried teletherapy? I have one child with very mild needs for whom teletherapy has been mildly beneficial (at least it’s an IPad break!) but for my severe son, I feel it’s almost useless. But he has cerebral palsy in addition to autism and I think about some point he needs to resume physical therapy. Curious how others feel. Hang in there :).

Those people need to suck it. I would tell them from now on that this is harassment and to NOT contact you again about your child. Have them go directly to your landlord. If the landlord comes to you, I would raise holy hell and play the special needs card - are they going to evict you because your child has special needs? Converse as much as you can over email and document everything. Are you in NYC? If so, tenant law is extremely favorable to the tenant. I would honestly not engage your neighbor anymore. When they approach you say “I have decided not to respond to your harassment regarding the behavior of my child with autism.” Or something like that. God people suck. I’m sorry you are dealing with this.

My son is getting one Teletherapy, his BIS sessions which is like ABA. He does get restless after a while but it's something. He has no interest in doing any of the school work that his teacher posts on google classroom.

My friend’s daughter has CP. her school delivered materials that she was using in school to her house so she could continue her therapy at home. While they are in Florida, I would ask your school if this is possible for your children as well. They sent home mats, this climbing wooden ladder type apparatus, and foam blocks.

So an educational advocate that I follow is saying that there will be no school for the summer and also schools may not even open in September, more like October. I really hope that is not the case because no schooling for 6 months plus will be devastating for our kids.

My daughter is going to a BOCES school, and she is having in-person summer school. Half-days (which she had last year, too). There's rules and restrictions, but at least she'll be able to go to the school building with her classmates and teachers.
We haven't heard about September, though. Summer school has less kids in general, so it's easier to social distance. I'm not sure what the plans are for the fall.
