why do people have hand sanitizer right next to the bathroom?
who do people have hand sanitizer at home?
if you are in the bathroom or at home, USE RUNNING WATER AND SOAP TO WASH YOUR HANDS!!!! HAND SANITIZER IS FOR WHEN YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO RUNNING WATER AND SOAP. IT'S TO BUY YOU TIME. IT'S NOT BETTER THAN RUNNING WATER AND SOAP!!

I donated mine for this reason. I just have 2 or 3 little ones from bath body that we got for my daughters lunch box.
They went to a nurse in a NICU. I’m happy to have helped in some small way

Plus I like the way they smell. I have a bunch from Bath & Body. I keep one above my sink on the windowsill next to the little hand lotion. I'm not ashamed to admit it but after going through the mail, I wash my hands for 20 seconds, dry with paper towel, use a little sanitizer for good measure then lotion up. CLEAN FREAK in general - this whole thing just put me over the edge

I have a small one in my car. Other than that I rarely use hand sanitizer.
My brother and SIL have always had a huge container of hand sanitizer for the kids. They said it makes less mess in the bathroom.

I only use hand sanitizer when commuting on the LIRR or NYC subway. Generally speaking I don’t like them. I don’t like the way they smell or feel on my skin.

I made the case to DH on day 2 by explaining that we have more soap than hand sanitizer.
Now...on day 27...I find myself using hand sanitizer in the house occasionally only to avoid washing my hands multiple times in a span of five minutes.

The reason I even had any around was because I only use it when I travel. At work the last 2 weeks before we stopped coming in, I was washing my hands when I got there ( as I always do) and then was sanitizing right after. I don't thinkt that helped at all, but I felt I needed to do something extra.

That is really gross if people are using it after using the bathroom! It’s definitely NOT a total replacement for soap and water, especially when using the restroom or if your hands may have bodily fluids on them.
I never use it at home, only when out in public and soap and water is not readily available. It has its use but soap and water is better.

Well, at least you guys can buy hand sanitizer. They have none here! I found one at a local Pharmacy. That was it. The major drug store (DM) here has had a sign up that no Desinfektion (sorry for the misspelling, autocorrect put it into German for me) products are available because of Covid. What’s even more worrying is that cashiers have none available either.
I just use soap and water. So much that my skin on my hands are all scaly.
This shit sucks.

I only have what stash I had from before
I had to make my own for wipes. I've always stocked up on cleaning supplies if they are on sale, so I'm kind of OK. I just don't have the Lysol spray anymore.
So I made my own wipes. There are lots of YouTube videos for this.
I found a container that can fit my paper towels. I cut the paper towels with a serrated knife to fit correctly in the container. I then mixed up aabout 1 TBSP of bleach with hot water (I also added soap to make it smell nice) and poured it over the paper towel roll for it absorb. Use less water if your paper towel roll is not full. take the inside tube out and take the wipes from there.
It has worked a treat here and it's cheaper. Thank god I was able to get American bleach at the commissary a few years ago.

It’s all sold out here too. My husband made his own hand sanitizer cause he uses it at work a lot.

as far as buying hand sanitizer...
i follow a few couponing people on IG, they post when they are aware of companies that have it back in stock.
if there is still any in stock by the time i see the post, i order some. usually, the ETA is a couple of weeks out. this was how i got a few bottles for the office (my employer then reimbursed me).
