i usually host, too. my last head-count was 15 (i believe). even if this all ended tomorrow, i don't feel it would be smart to have people over with SO's mother being elderly and frail.

i'll be sending a family text before the end of the day telling everyone that easter brunch at my house is cancelled.

i might still cook some of my easter favorites and have a nice meal with SO and his mom.

Ditto. No chance we'll risk it in my family. We have too many family members that are high risk.

We are staying home with our 2 DCs (mine are teenagers and could care less about the Easter Bunny). We may order from Honeybaked Ham.

Easter

Not worth the risk. Earlier this week when I was grocery shopping I grabbed some Easter candy and 2 small items for my DS. I am happy I did that because this morning he was crying hoping that the Easter Bunny doesn't get sick with the virus.

Re: Easter

By easter there will be 3 babies 5 weeks and under. I was going to go for my toddler because we do an Easter egg hunt, but I think I am just going to do a hunt in my own backyard with just him.

Easter

Things are only going to get worse before they get better. There is no way we’re going anywhere for Easter!!
I’m ordering a bag of candy online, and doing a hunt in my yard for my own kids. I already have a few things for baskets I picked up a few weeks ago.

I just talked about this today with my sisters and mom. Another family member hosts it and she said it’s still on. I said if the church canceled easter then the gathering should be at least put on hold as well! We are not attending.

Re: Easter

At this point I can’t even think about Easter. Things are changing so rapidly here.

*disclaimer— I woke up in a bad mood from some announcement going through the streets letting us know we can’t go out. The hell part is starting to look real:

Heaven is where the police are British, the cooks are French, the mechanics German, the lovers Italian and it's all organised by the Swiss.

Hell is where the chefs are British, the mechanics French, the lovers Swiss, the police German and it's all organised by the Italians.

KlingKland77 I am sorry for what you are going through. That's insane about the announcements in the streets.

I just had to tell you that you literally man me laugh out loud with this:

"Heaven is where the police are British, the cooks are French, the mechanics German, the lovers Italian and it's all organised by the Swiss.

Keep your sense of humor, It is probably what is holding us together at this point.

My sense of humor is the only thing holding me together at this point.

This is the twitter video. I basically woke up to this.

https://twitter.com/bfmuenchen/status/1241279533732462592?s=21&fbclid=IwAR2XsX8U1gLqgZNc1Ea3nhuzMLQUFZvtkMZJZWYZ6Fgz4dbCAUf0rh-NwUU

That is the “Times Square” of Bavaria. Rough translation: stay home. You can go to work, the doctor, and for essential purchases.

I’m on another message board for expats in Germany. Someone is wondering why Germany’s death rates are so low. They are so low because of paperwork! Paperwork takes weeks here!

You can’t file for a death certificate unless you have your birth certificate. Then there are certain protocols to say it was a death. What I mean by that is they can say heart stopped beating. That happens in death anyway. I think that is why our numbers are so low.

I believe I saw that the Germans got around so many concentration camp death numbers by saying they died of pneumonia.

Italy, France, and Spain are reporting REAL reasons.

I guess I’ll just take a nap and listen to the fire department yell out to me in German to stay home (at least they use the polite form!). It feels like a bad ww2 movie (they didn’t use the polite form in those movies). If you don’t understand the polite form, I can explain.

ETA:
Go here: https://interaktiv.morgenpost.de/corona-virus-karte-infektionen-deutschland-weltweit/

Go under “weltweit (Worldwide if you are interested in learning a new language)”. The gray area is the death rates. Red is infected. Green is recovered. Compare it to the rest. Then you will see.

I’m sorry. I don’t know what else to say. I hope you and your family are safe and stay healthy.

For Easter my fiancé and his 2 children and I will watch mass on TV and have dinner. No other family as we’re taking social distancing seriously.
