Going into work but has option to WFH

Is anyone still going into the office even though they have the option to WFH? DH just left to go in but they were told if they wanted to they can work from home. He said they did conference calls even though most were in the office I guess to keep their distance.

He has elderly parents that live with us and I just feel that he is putting himself at risk for no reason

Going into work but has option to WFH

My husband went into the city Monday and today. He wasn’t planning on it but stuff came up.

I have been able to work from home for the last 2 weeks and I’m only home cause my son is. I work better at work.

Re: Going into work but has option to WFH

In his case, with elderly parents living with you I wouldn't risk it.

My company and all it's offices are still open but they said if you feel uncomfortable you have the option to wfh for the next 2 weeks.

I went in yesterday and there were 4 people there. I didn't cross paths with anyone all day other than seeing them from a distance. I pretty much stayed alone in my office all day in peace and quiet

Today I'm working home

But if I had high risk people living in my house ,I wouldn't go in.

Do you have young kids? From my experience, trying WFH is a nightmare with kids in the house. I can never actually get anything done. Maybe he feels the same way.

That's why I went in. I mean she's not a toddler but it gets distracting.
And like PP said, I work better in the office.
And it was so quiet and dead in there that I was definitely "socially distancing" Barely saw another human all day.
It was great.

I have two at home and one has special needs. I've been going into the office b/c I can get more done than I can at home. I am distancing myself from elderly family members and basically go to work and then home. I am not afraid of contracting the virus at all because it has a high rate of recovery and I am a generally healthy person

I do but my MIL watches her during the day. We have bedrooms upstairs he can set up to work. I personally would prefer to work at the office but our team was told by higher ups not to come in and as of Friday our office will be closed until further notice.

My concern is his parents. They both have medical issues and I am afraid that if he gets it he can pass it to them.

Yes that would be my concern as well.

I work for a university and they sent a strongly worded email telling people to stop coming in to work.

Going into work but has option to WFH

I've been coming in, but this morning they had me set up WFH access with our IT guy. Not sure when the actual WFH will start.

Ok so he just came home. Another employee that was in the office yesterday had a headache and fever last night.

I am currently but this because I work in a convert house and I have my own office and my own bathroom. My DH is working from home and I would have to set up in the same area he is in because I need access to the router. It has just been easier to come in.
However, those working from home aren't really expected to work so I am picking up their work and it's bugging me. They could do it but don't.

With the elderly parents I'd see about WFH to reduce risk... I am working from home but also mainly because I have young kids that are out of school and I don't have any other means of childcare. I'd almost rather just go in a few days a week... It's really rough to work from home with kids around... they are expecting me to videoconference which is impossible with my kids making noise in the background... a coworker of mine is going into the office because she finds it easier to work from the office vs her ipad.

I am basically working from home but there are certain things I need access to at the office. We can’t have more than 2 of us there though so staggering when we come in. I am 5 min from the office though so very convenient. If I were him I would not go in
