Pregnant and Coronavirus?

Anyone else pregnant and worried about the Coronavirus? I'm still in the first trimester, 11 weeks, so I will more comfortable in the next couple of weeks. My DH on the other hand is nuts! He doesn't even want me going to the grocery store. I mean I go to work (I work in a school), pick up my DS from school, and go to the doctor. He says that those are things that I have to do so it's okay. Things like the grocery store he can do. Last night he went to the store at 8pm so it would be empty. I know that I shouldn't over expose myself. In mind it seems no more risky than the flu. I have an OB appointment on Tuesday so I will bring up these concerns to the doctor. But just curious how others are dealing with this.

Re: Pregnant and Coronavirus?

I would totally take advantage lol

I’m not pregnant but I work in an elementary school in queens. I also work right past the waiting room to the nurses office so I’m constantly walking in and out of the waiting room, hearing and seeing kids throw up, random rashes etc. I pick up my kids from school three days a week and am always running around to some activity.

I’m not so nervous for myself because I’m generally healthy but my parents and in laws are older, and I have a little munchkin at home. We wash our hands constantly. On days when the kids play at the playground after school I have them take off their clothes and hop right into the shower and I wash their jackets and clothes immediately. This is annoying lol

But if I were you and hubby told me don’t lift a finger I’d be just fine with that lol

Tell him you don’t want to clean or do laundry so you don’t come in contact with those germs lol

All kidding aside yes be extra careful
And even if you aren’t so nervous, if it makes hubby feel better to have you avoid certain situations, by all means oblige. If it makes him less anxious it’s worth it.

Not pregnant but I would definitely be extra careful if I was since your immune system isn’t as great...

Be careful. Your husband is right- stay home. My friend is in the middle of doing IVF and he doctor told her to stay away from public places.

Re: Pregnant and Coronavirus?

My sil is due and the doctor is inducing her early to get in and out of the hospital this week as opposed to next week when he thinks it will be so much worse. Edit, no family is permitted at the hospital. Only person giving birth and a plus one, ie. spouse. That is it.

Yes, in this instance I would be more vigilant. Not "over the top panic mode" but I would definitely take advantage of whatever extra help DH is offering. Your body and immune system is in overdrive as it is. I wouldn't wear a mask but I would avoid any unnecessary outings or crowds.

I’m 30 weeks. I’m not too worried on a day to day, but we are supposed to go to Disney in a couple weeks and we are thinking of postponing Chat Icon I’m so stressed over that!

Oh wow, good for you for going to Disney that far along. I don't know if I'd be able to handle Disney in the 3rd trimester. A doctor on NPR this morning said he would avoid travel unless necessary and definitely not in a high risk group. But no one saying is that being pregnant puts you in a high risk group. Just being over 60 or having an underlying condition such as heart or lung disease.

I work in a school in Flushing so only so much to avoid. We have a meeting tomorrow with our supervisor, so it's like a big group of 80ish people, and my husband is like, aren't they recommending to avoid large groups? The DOE doesn't care lol.

My fave is my husbands response

“No gatherings of 500 or more...what’s school?”
