Air fryer-yay or nay?

If yay, what brand?

We don't eat a lot of meat but I thought it might be good for fries in the summer when we grill out for quick cooking of frozen snack food.

Re: Air fryer-yay or nay?

I'd say nay, I've found it doesn't do anything differently than an oven. And while it seems like it'd be great in the summer to use to not heat up the kitchen with the oven, I find that it's especially annoying for things like fries because if you want things to be crispy everything has to be spread out in one thin layer. If you're cooking for one or maybe two people it might be worth it? I even bought the largest one that I could find, and it's only marginally larger in width, the basket itself is very deep, which doesn't help unless I want to cook something "tall". To me, it's not worth the space it takes up.

Yay

I have the skinnytaste Vremi
I love that it’s all non stick. No wire basket which is hard to clean IMO. I had the philips which had the wire basket and I got tired of cleaning it.

I’ve made:
Fried eggplant
Chicken tenders
Fries
Chips
Hard boiled eggs

As well as frozen fried foods heated in there. They get super crunchy in no time.

I had won one, and gave it to my aunt because the thing was huge and I didn't have counter space for it... i would only be using it every now and then so to me was not worth having a giant appliance for something I would get seldom use out of. However I do know there are people who love it.

Yay! I love mine. I put everything in it. I'm a huge fan of "burnt" veggies so I put them in there. Peppers and onions, fries, chicken nuggets. I've made salmon in there, "fried" chicken but without the breading, shrimp, egg rolls...tons of stuff.

I have the Phillips one. I just toss the wire rack into the dishwasher. A non-stick feature would be nice though.

I was thinking about getting this one. I love her and follow her, but the reviews on it have been awful. But yours is good?

I saw a lot of people had issues with theirs. But it was the when the first batch came out. I got mine during the 2nd wave so to speak. And they were recently sold out so there may be a newer / better model out now.
I love mine. I’ve never had an issue

I never felt like it fully cleaned.I’d wind up scrubbing The wires and still seeing crusty old olive oil spray on it.

The all non - stick. Game changer lol
I only put it on the dishwasher once when making something that had a sticky sauce. But my usual air frying? I clean it quickly by hand and it’s perfect

I love mine. So much quicker and easier than using the oven for lots of appetizer type frozen foods, and my kids like how veggies like broccoli or brussel sprouts come out crispy. We have the Instant pot brand Vortex fryer and it's a very nice size for a family of 4.

Air fryer-yay or nay?

I think I must have been using mine wrong lol. I didn't like it at all and didn't find it any different that using my oven. It just cooked in less time. I use it now on holidays if we need an extra oven for sides.

I’m going to need help from all you yay people. Bought one for Christmas after people raved. I can make really good fries and mozzarella sticks and that’s about it. I’m not good at chicken or veggies. Help! I follow the book for temp/time settings and follow recipes online but I find it’s really trial and error. My biggest fail was chicken wings. Must have fried them for 45 minutes before they were crunchy enough for the family ugh

I felt the same but now we have an Emerils 360 and I use it all the time. I like seeing what I’m cooking lol. I felt that in the old air fryer it was a crapshoot.

yay because i got a combo toaster oven/air fryer and replaced my toaster with it. I got the cuisinart one on amazon. I think it was around $199. It's nice, stainless with a digital display screen. It bakes, air fries, and toasts. I've made cupcakes in it and used the tray to make cookies as well. It's great if you have kids. I can make chicken nuggets in 5 min now instead of 25 min in a regular oven!

Me, too. I sold mine. It took up space and I have a small oven and a convection setting, so it didn’t do anything special or different.
