Super Bowl Halftime Show
I cannot believe all the ridiculous hoopla over the halftime show. I feel like I may need to delete social media over all the ignorance that I read today. One woman on the local FB basically said that J Lo and Shakira's performance is why women get raped.

Really? I didn't read anything like that but I do avoid any talk of the super bowl so maybe that's why.
My DH had the game on and I was passing by and glanced at the show-seemed fine to me. All I know is J Lo had a wig on that was to die for.
That's all I got out of it.

I didn't watch, but I heard SO much outrage about how inappropriate it was for children/families. So, like you said, all the hoopla piqued my curiosity so I youtubed the performance.
JLo was on a pole, but she wasn't stripping. Neither was Shakira.
I didn't see anything sexier or more revealing than the average cheerleader's performance, yet nobody says a thing about them.
They were wearing more than Adam Levine was last year, yet all the soccer moms were licking their screens in 2019.
So, what exactly was it about the performance that had the family values circuit outraged? Was it the kids in cages?? Was it the Puerto Rican flag??

I think all the hoopla is ridiculous! The outfits were nothing worse than an ice skater’s outfit or dance outfit, etc. In addition, dance outfits are made to go along with the choreography and show the body as an art form. It’s a human body and we all have one. America is ridiculous when it comes to things like this.
There was a pole there, but there was no stripping. Why is it seen as sexualized? It was dancing. No one was up there having sex up there. Completely ridiculous.
And then there’s the topic of how violent football is...

Yeah, I've seen a lot of complaints from my conservative friends - about how Hollywood is all about empowering women and then they're paraded around like they did. It's certainly the double standard since everyone was drooling over Adam Levine last year.
Twitter had me laughing at the ignorant people complaining about her flashing a Cuban flag - about how this is America, blah blah. They're too dumb, I guess, to know it's a flag for Puerto Rico and it's American.
I'm just thrilled they got 2 women over 40 that look smoking hot instead of some teenager that no one will remember in 5 years.

Honestly I have come to realize that people will ALWAYS find something to complain about. People would complain in heaven.
Especially now with social media. Back in the day you could only b!tch and complain to your friends and family.
Now you can hop right on twitter and give your opinion to the whole world on EVERYTHING.
Everyone is an expert. Everyone feels their opinion is super important and needs to be tweeted out to the masses.
It's super annoying.

I thought the show was awesome, but I'm so over the fake outrage.
When Beyonce performed, she was starting race wars. When Janet Jackson performed, she scared all the precious children with her breast (who are now all adults and probably taking to their therapists about it or in jail).
The only safe performers are boring white men, e.g., Paul McCartney.

Women are women's worst enemy. It's insane. Women cry and scream about men being misogynistic and blah blah blah but women are the first ones to take down another woman. Always.
Those two ladies worked their asses off to create an entertaining half time show. I'm sure in that stadium the energy was palpable. They look amazing. Nobody was taking their clothes off. Were JLo's outfits a little risque? Maybe but so are the scantily clad cheerleaders we see week after week. JLo was not gyrating on a stripper pole. She did ONE maneuver on it where she looked like she was laying flat and rotating around it. Unless your kids are privy to stripper routines, they would have just thought she was using it as part of her dance.
I loved that she included her daughter. How awesome that she got to perform with her Mom. She will remember that always.
What I was a little perturbed by was that Bad Bunny was there. He is so raunchy that other countries have banned him but here he is, performing on a tremendous platform for everyone to see. WTH? That was taking a pretty big risk.

I called it...days before they even performed I told my family get ready a for the backlash because it’s two Latino women. Not surprised at all.. baseball and football have the most racist fans.
I loved it and they were hot, my whole family enjoyed it. Finally a good show, it was better than the game which I found to be a boring one.

My honest opinion? I don’t think they need all that air humping and crotch grabbing.
They are incredibly talented, absolutely stunning and the excessive sexual movements cheapens them. If you have a crappy voice and can’t move to a beat, then grind and grab to deflect from the fact that you are only as good as your auto tunes and back up dancers.
But these ladies are incredible. They could have been up there in potato sacks and their talent would shine through. Every crotch grab and air hump made me cringe because I feel like they are better than that. (I cringe when all performers do that. I also hate when cheerleaders move sexually and god, when I go to dance comps with kids doing moves that belong in Club)
Once that stuff ended and they Really Really danced? I was wowed ( as per usual with them)
Am I outraged? No. Does every performer do stuff I think is stupid? Most likely.
I didn’t even like when MJ grabbed his crotch every second. It’s a stupid move that they should do away with forever lol

This! Also, I get really confused by all of the people complaining that the halftime show is supposed to be kid and family friendly. Since when is the Super Bowl a kid's event? We all know that the halftime show is a crapshoot. Sometimes it is super sexy (anyone remember Janet and Justin T?) and sometimes it is more tame. Parents shouldn't allow their children to watch if they are going to get offended by lyrics or entertainment geared towards adults.

But these same moms are carting their toddler and tweenie bopper daughters to dance classes all over town where they dress in mature flashy costumes and spackle 100 lbs of makeup on, grinding and girating while they perform on a stage. They sign them up for mature beauty pageants. So it's ok for 10 year old girls, but not 40 and 50 yr old women whose JOB is to sell out stadiums? These same parents are ok with their kids following the Kardashians on social media. Didn't Kim break the internet with her ass?
Did they expect JLo was going to dress like she's amish? If I know Miley Cyrus is going to perform at the superbowl I won't be surprised that she's twerking in her underwear and humping a microphone. I may not care for it, but I'm not going to complain. It's a parent's job to parent. It's JLo's job to grind her ass across a stage if she wants. And I say that as someone who doesn't even care for JLo, but even I can admit she was incredible. How is she 50?!

I was excited about the two teams playing as well and thought it was going to be more excited. But idk the first half was boring. I just don’t think it was as interesting as I thought it was going to be. I agree with you about last years game, that was a total dud lol.

Shakira has been moving like that since she started in this industry, she put belly dancing on map, her she wolf video is hot asf. This is cultural not about shock or look at me. JLo bust her @se to learn how to dance on the pole and I believe that was her homage to her movie hustlers. I would be swinging on every pole I saw if I learned how to dance like that.
I swear if people went to my family parties they better not bring their precious kids because our dancing is not a two step lol.

I have always been hypnotized by Shakira's hips and belly dancing lol her moves  love her!

If I had either of their bodies I would wear as little clothes as I could get away with.
People love to be outraged. I am more outraged by the NFL - I grew up loving football but I can't enjoy it anymore. I cannot support a league where someone who punched and choked his pregnant girlfriend and lost custody of his child temporarily for abuse is glorified because he can run fast and catch a ball. And this is just one example of violent individuals getting rewarded. Lets not even get into the league actively concealing evidence of serious brain injuries.

This is exactly it. Everyone thinks their opinion matters. It doesn't. Everyone has to express their daily fake outrage over every insignificant little thing. Like what color Starbucks holiday cups are. Or that they're called holiday cups and not Christmas cups. People have too much time on their hands.
IMAGINE if JLo came out on stage dressed like she lives in a convent and singing about side hugs and casseroles.
People would be complaining that she lost her touch, she's old she doesn't have it anymore, boring old lady just needs to hang it up already. You can't win lol people are obnoxious.

I loved every bit of it. Shakira is my personal fave, but JLo did her thing. I thought Emme was absolutely adorable and so talented.
I also love one of Bad Bunny's songs so was excited to see him too, even tho he didn't sing it. Lol.

Shakira is Columbian; not Lebanese.
I loved them both! But I will say I think Shakira's a&& is better.
