Sunrise Hwy Westbound Oakdale Merge
Does anyone know if they happened to pave it yet?
I took today off today but the past 3 days have been a nightmare...
Just hoping for one easy commute this week

I know someone who commutes past there everyday and happened to mention yesterday that it was one of the worst commutes he can remember. Sorry!

I've been hearing nothing but horror stories all week long. I don't think it will ease up for a while. If I were you, I'd make my way down to Montauk Hwy to bypass the merge all together.

I did Vets hwy on Tuesday and it was a a dream!I got every green light...
But then Wednesday I felt like EVERYONE went that way. LOL

Last night it was a nightmare. I didn't drive past it this morning so I'm not sure how they're doing...but last night it took forever to get through.

I drove westbound today and no it wasn't paved
Happy to see that lane shift pattern is done with. That was a nightmare, especially with the sun glare.

Drove westbound tonight they paved parts of the left lane but it’s still a mess. I don’t know whose brilliant idea it was. It’s added like 20 min onto my commute.

I was driving east this morning on Sunrise and I noted how backed up the traffic was. Really unacceptable.

Anything that causes more traffic on long Island is unacceptable. Even without anything going on the traffic is abominable due to over population and over building.
The other day it took me 1 hour to go 11 miles on a day when schools were closed -which usually is a lighter traffic day-due to an accident that happened miles ahead of the exit I was going to...but backed traffic up for an hour for 10 exits.
Tonight there was no weather, no accidents, no road work, and I left work early to try and beat some traffic and it took me 45 minutes to go those same 11 miles.
So anything they are doing to exacerbate this situation I can't even imagine.
I truly worry this Island will become unlivable in 20 years due to the traffic and overcrowding. And they are allowing this by turning a blind eye to the massive over building.

I left at 7:26am this morning and got to work at 8:15a.
And the pp was correct some of the left lane is somewhat paved but the rest is unpaved.
I saw on a website that November 14th construction "should" be completed.

Traffic was terrible this morning but it looked all paved. Honestly this project has been a waste of money. All this work to add new drains but do nothing to help the actual problem.

I really thought they were going to create an extra lane some how... I know it is impossible with the lake and the state park... But I thought they were going to do something more constructive.
I hope they don't have to pave going out east. It would be a nightmare.

I'm getting to the point where I am close to telling my boss I can't come into the office anymore.
Every day the traffic is a nightmare for one reason or another- rain, an accident, construction.
45 min to an hour to go 11 miles.
I can't be battling this every day- twice a day- to sit at a desk in an office when I can do the same work at home. I keep thinking - what is the point of this?
Long Island is becoming unlivable to be honest.

I agree. I can also do my job at home but I feel like it is frowned upon here. I wish there would be an incentive for people to work from home. I would like to think it would help the environment too... As well as my well being.
When people who literally live around the corner say how traffic was bad.. It took them 20 minutes instead of 8 minutes, well frankly I want to punch them in throat.

OMG! I say all the time that there needs to be some kind of incentive or tax break for companies that have a certain percentage of their employees as remote/home offices.
It is better for the environment, it will reduce the overcrowding on the roads, etc
Companies could also reduce their costs on leasing all these office spaces.
To me it's a win/win.
I can see having to come in once a week or so to have a team meeting, catch up with your team members etc.
But not this every day where we all sit and work at our desks and do nothing that can't be done in our homes. And clog up the roads, and battle traffic, and contribute to the issues.
To me it's a waste.
Something needs to be done and I feel like something like you and I describe is it.
we can't continue to go on with the way they are packing every square inch of long island with housing and expect to be able to get around in 20 years.
