Could never homeschool

All the power to the parents who can, but no way I could.
As you read I am home with my 8 year old with the flu. Since he's doing much better we started working on the work his older brother picked up for him since his younger brother is out.
Teacher sent a bunch of paperwork and problems to do and it's a nightmare. My son is so lazy. Doesn't want to read the whole article and lazy when writing the answers. Even getting him to write his name at the top he's taking forever on purpose.
Ugh!
I know at school he's not like this. All the power to teachers and the parents who have the patience to homeschool. I even had to check some answers on my iPhone calculator. LOL

Chat Icon Why are kids like this with their parents and then bright, upstanding citizens at school? They kill me!

I could NEVER homeschool either. Actually, even if my kid would listen to me, I think I could never offer her the social aspects and the variety of activities that school offers.

We "home schooled" for religion last year because we couldn't make the classes at the time offered. I put "home schooled" in quotes because that really involved going over the book the weekend before the test. There's no way she would have sat down and listened to me each week! It was hard enough getting her to go to Mass on Sundays -- she wasn't doing religion work with me during the week! But she's fine with someone else in a school setting!

I'm a terrible teacher- I can know something like the back of my hand but the minute I go and try to explain it to someone else, forget it- it just doesn't translate.
I also have the patience of an angry rattlesnake, so yeah, no way!

Homeschooling is very popular down here in Nc... I tell my neighbor all the time I have no idea how she does it. Not for me!! But “bless her heart” lol

This is me exactly! Even helping my boys study I find it hard to explain my answers or especially my older son's vocab words.
Forget about the math!

I am a former teacher, certified PreK-6, and there is no way in hell I'd want to homeschool. Being a SAHM for the last 11 years, I just need a break from my kids. I love them but 24/7 AND being in charge of their education would be WAY too much for me. No thanks.Chat Icon

I love my kids. I love that I’m currently a sahm mom to my youngest but teaching them. Nope. I’ll leave that to the professionals.
