Interview attire and tip

Hi,

I've been a SAHM for the past 7 years and am finally on the job hunt again. The last interview I went on was 11 years ago. I'm assuming a suit is still reccomend, but figured I would ask. I'd also appreciate any other pieces of advice or tips.

Thank you!!!

You can't go wrong with a suit, so I'd just go with that, yes.
Wear a nice pop of color on your blouse underneath or a nice statement necklace to add some interest.

Agree. Except if you're interviewing at a tech startup. They will look at you oddly for wearing a suit. If I interview at a startup, I typically just wear a skirt and shirt.

Interview attire and tip

I stopped wearing suits to interviews years ago. I tend to wear dress pants/skirt and nice sweater set or a dress. Most of the time, the person interviewing me is dressed in business casual and a suit would make me overdressed. Bottom line - just look neat and professional.

Of course this also depends on the industry you are interviewing in. Some might expect you to wear a suit while others don't.

Thank you everyone for the tips. I went on 1 interview so far and it went well. I had to chuckle because the interviewer was in yoga pants and a zip up.

Well you should always be better dressed than your interviewer!!! I know the millennial's don't think it matters, but at my former job which was fairly young, we would not hire you if you weren't in a suit or blazer, pants, skirt combo. Good luck on your job search!
