Resume / Cover Letter Question

Hi!

I've been a SAHM for the past 7 yrs and am finally trudging through the job market again. In 2017 - 2018 an old HS friend hired me at his company. It was an intense job and I left just short of a year due to the terminal illness of a family member.
I just found a job listing for company I'd love to work for and I'm totally qualified for the position. I've already mentioned, at the end, of my cover letter that the huge gap in my resume is because I stayed home to raise my kids. So regarding this last job, should I...

1. Erase it completely off my resume? It has no baring on the current position I'm interested in. I do have references aside from my HS friend.

2. Leave it on and also explain my brief work time was due to an illness in the family?

FYI....I'm applying to a very young and fun company. Apparently they have air hockey tournaments throughout the week and you're allowed to bring your pet to work with you.

TIA

Resume / Cover Letter Question

I would leave it off if it is not in any way related to the job you are applying to. If you left it on and they ask why you left, the explanation you give could bias them one way or the other - not that it should, but, it can. If you've addressed the gap, just start from there.

I would definitely leave it off.

Do you know someone who currently works there? Getting a personal referral is quite helpful in getting an interview, especially since you have a resume gap. Often times resumes are never seen by a human, just a computer scanner unfortunately and many great candidates are passed over.
