Question about eating at Disney World
DH and I chose not to go with the dining plan and have budgeted for food. We are only looking to do one character theme meal since my daughter is really only interested in meeting the princesses. We were considering Askershus for breakfast. The Royal Banquet Hall is just way too much $$$ for us. Outside of that, how did you find eating at places if you did not have a dining plan? Did you make a lot of reservations in advance? I'm thinking eating out of 6 days, eating breakfast in the room 5 days, having a snack mid day and dinner which will not be at a sit down table but counter service. Pardon my lack of knowledge ...it has been almost 20 years since I have last been to Disney!

So you would be skipping lunch, and just having snacks?
We go often. I usually bring stuff for breakfast (cereal cups, bars, etc. and buy milk at gift shop) We eat lunch counter service, and dinner counter service. Maybe twice a trip we have an actual overpriced sit down meal. I find the counter service options at Disney to be great, and a wide variety.

You will need reservations for any table service meals, but not for quick service. We never eat lunch at Disney and just snack our way through the day until dinner.
Check the menu at Askershus before you book. A lot of people I know weren’t thrilled with it. If you don’t like it, the Bon Voyage breakfast at Trattoria al Forno is great, but only has Ariel and Rapunzel as far as princesses go.

We have gone to Disney 6-8 times this past year (we are OOS and have annual passes.) I think that snacks don't replace lunch. It is hot (or very warm) and with lots of walking and being active, you're going to get hungry. For a family of 4 (2 kids under 9) we always spend close to $60 on counter service meals and more times than I'd like, it's stuff like chicken fingers and burgers, way overpriced. There are some good quick service spots though - Satuli in Animal Kingdom is yummy, people like Flaming Tree there also. In Epcot there's lots of places to choose from, Hollywood Studios has a quick service in Galaxy's Edge that we liked, and MK is where we usually where we wind up eating burgers and chicken fingers although Columbia House is there and they have seafood, all fried though. Personally, I'd make reservations for another 1-2 sit down places (not character meals necessarily) bc it's easy to get tired of the food.

Question about eating at Disney World
We always plan one sit down meal a day. Usually dinner but sometimes lunch or breakfast. Disney is a lot of walking and we always need that "sit down/get out of heat and crowds" meal break. I personally can't stand relying on quick service for meals bc the food choices are limited and they all are the same (chicken fingers/burgers, etc). Plus, its not always easy finding a table to sit at so it causes so much more stress than just having a reservation somewhere.
I also can't eat the same fried food for 5 days and Disney has so many good restaurants! Half of the experience for us is eating at the themed or just different places

FYI - you can bring food, snacks and drinks into all Disney parks. I usually bring a soft sided cooler bag with ice packs, waters, snacks and PBJ.

I went the second week of November last year. The weather was perfect. It was like 80-83, zero humidity, no rain. You will definitely be wearing shorts and swimming but it's not melting you hot.
As for the meals, we always do the meal plan but I did pay for a couple out of pocket and they were pricey. One night we ate at the steak house for my DH's birthday and I almost fell off the chair when I got the bill. Way more than a NYC steak house.
When we went in May, I used Shipt which shopped at Target. They delivered water, seltzer, juice boxes, protein bars & drinks, granola bars, applesauce, fruit snacks, pb&j, etc. I would pack a cooler bag everyday and that would help defray the costs.

I was there the last weekend of October and it was very warm and sunny. Definitely still shorts and tshirt weather. It's warm/hot but not uncomfortably hot. It's early Oct now and our temps (we are North of Disney ) are still high 80's/90 and the sun feels HOT in the afternoons. Central FL is warmer by a few degrees than where I live.

I went 2 years ago and it was in the 90s. It will be hot still.
I just got back and only did quick serve. Never again. The choices are all flight fat food. I was dying for vegetables.

We do simple breakfast, snacks (turkey leg is actually a good one and ice cream), and an early sit down meal (before dinner rush).
All the good is pretty bad at MK. Try Skipper Canteen. We had the best meal twice there and kids preferred it to anywhere else. We have also dined at monorail hotels as a break from MK. Not a fan of BOG or CRT.
Epcot, food was pretty good... not exactly worldly but I guess if you are not from NY...
Weather in November is hit or miss in my experience. We have gone and had warmth... but even in mid October (we have a conference that hits in October-November every year), have gone and worn sweaters or have NY/NJ kids be the only ones in the pool (we swim if 70). Hope you get warm weather.
