I guess it's because I am older and less patient than 10 years ago? Maybe because there are literally hundreds of poor sheep getting their enhanced licenses? I just can't believe how long and drawn out the process is.
Wait 40 minutes. Present your paperwork. Hopefully it was filled out because there are no desks or tables to lean on.
Get back in line to take your picture and eye test, a 20+ minute wait.
Then, wait for 1+ hours.
Some of the clerks are friendly, others are ornery
There has to be a better way....

I honestly think just getting a passport is the easiest route.
This way you can renew your license by mail and get the old school one.

was there a few weeks ago to get my enhance and couldn't even do it after waiting hours (couldn't get an appointment, forgot my ID was expiring and I started a new job so i cant take off) they wouldn't expect my birth certificate!!! (Posted about it)
I loath that place and they really make it more miserable which is why everyone hates it!! I wonder if they do it purposely

It took dh almost 3 hours last month. Everyone seemed to have a reservation but when he had tried there were no available appointments. I tried looking for him an hour into his wait and there was one appointment 2 weeks out but his license would have been expired before that. It was awful.

Yes you can use that to board a domestic flight after October 2020.
Unless you don't want to carry your passport domestically.
It just seems easier than the friggin' DMV that is for sure.

I already have a passport, why should I have to pay for something else that works just like my passport ?
So I have to carry it to fly domestically. Not a big deal.

I just went to do this two weeks ago. Got there 15 min before they opened. Took my photo immediately and waited 10 min to be called. I was out and back in my car in under 45 min

This. I’ll always keep a current passport so I just don’t see the need. It’s not a big deal to bring that with me. Anything to avoid the dmv
ETA: plus I really like my current photo. I don’t wanna chance a ****** pic next time too lol

How can you renew your license by mail without getting the eye test? Or do you mean that you need to include that as well by mail?
My NY license is almost expired, and I want to renew it, but they said they need an eye test and I need to get that done in the US. How long can a license stay expired? I don’t want to lose my NY license even though I have my German one.

You can get an eye test at your regular doctor. I work at a school and have had the school nurse do it for me.

Me too. I had an 8;30 appt and I was out in 20 min.

Your license can’t be expired more than 2 years.

I just did my license... And I got a regular one.
Now my license says not for federal use... Does that mean no jury duty?
LOL
