Trip to Canada

I feel like I've been to so many places with the kids, but would love to do a long weekend trip to Canada.
Any ideas where to start. Would love to do Niagra Falls, but don't even know where to begin,
Is it too cold to go in early November? THinking the week that NJ schools are closed for a few days.
Any hotel recommendations and what else to do besides the falls? Thanks
My boys are 10 and 8.

Re: Trip to Canada

If you wanted to do Maid of the Mist in Niagara, it might not be running then.

Re: Trip to Canada

I went to Niagara once in November. It snowed on the way up there. The Maid of the Mist will not be open and Niagara on the Lake will not be enjoyable, IMO. I think it is more of a summer destination.

What about Montreal? You can stop at the Ben and Jerry’s factory in Burlington. The kids will love that.

We did Mont Tremblant with the kids. We went to ski, which you may be able to do in November, but it has an adorable village area with an indoor pool and all sorts of activities.

We went to Niagara Falls last August. I recommend going in summer so you can do the maid of the mist or the cave of the winds, where you go under/behind the falls. If you go in fall there are definitely other things to do. Clinton Hill on the Canadian side has tons of kids activities. There is also a great wolf lodge nearby. But we were there especially to see the falls, and it is best experienced in summer.

Re: Trip to Canada

I was in Toronto this past November and it was more or less the same temperature that it was on Long Island.
That said, if you’re going to head to Canada, I highly recommend going to Québec City. There are so many great restaurants and things to do. It’s my family’s favorite “non beach” vacation!

Re: Trip to Canada

When we went to Toronto a few years ago, it was mid-late September
We stayed in downtown Toronto and we went to the hockey hall of fame, Ripken’s aquarium which was spectacular, took a tour of the baseball stadium(Rodgers stadium), went up the cn tower

Didn’t need to rent a car
Flew in, took a cab to downtown and walked to everything

Our kids at the time were 5 and 2?
We flew up for a family wedding and stayed an extra three days and did the other stuff then

Trip to Canada

We just went to Toronto over this past spring break. It was a great trip. We rented a car and drove to Niagra Falls for the day (which was plenty of time to see everything.) Maid of the Mist was not open in April and there was still ice all around the falls. I believe it opens in May thru Sept. we still had a great view of the falls and there’s a few things to do nearby like resty, go karts, an arcade, etc...

In Toronto we did the Hockey Hall of Fame, a zoo, CN Tower, science museum and saw a Blue Jays game.
