Chernobyl

Is anyone watching this series?

It’s really good, but I am a Chernobyl geek.

I know I’ve been on Wikipedia and Google and try to find out how close this series is to the actual event and people. Apparently, it is VERY close. The only small difference is the female scientist is supposed to be a combination of the real scientists that did the investigation.

I was wondering. Like the part about the firefighter who just died last week and now the wife is pregnant. I was thinking was this an actual person? Or made up for the mini series (I’m sure there were many stories like this, just curious if this was a real couple)?

I thought the same exact thing! That’s why I went searching. It was the storyline that I found most interesting. I’m also interested in the whole coverup storyline.

It was a real couple. Apparently, some details were changed (like she was 6 months PG at the time).

I’d post links, but I’m not into spoilers and I have not read most of the links.

Apparently the podcast that goes along with this is really good. I’ll have to check it out.

I haven’t listened but I heard it’s very good. The link is for part one. You can find the other links on YouTube.

I’m curious to see where the storyline goes and how far they take it with the firefighter’s wife.

I do know that the head guy in charge that night lived until 2005 and died from a heart attack, not cancer, but I guess they will mention that at the end.

It’s just so amazing that they tried to hide it all!

I stream everything through other websites, but I believe it comes from HBO and Sky in the UK.

Wow. Watching this and loving it. Really well done. Insane to think that this happened...and less than 35 years ago.

What this made me think about (and start googling), was the disaster in Fukushima in 2011. And how that is still a massive, massive, scary problem. The ramifications for Japan are significant and wont be known for a long time. Scary.

I’m halfway through. Might have nightmares about radiation poisoning. Apparently Russia will be producing their own show, blaming the CIA.

I’m so interested in the cancer stats and cure rates. Of course, not much info out there.

Re: Chernobyl

I really liked it. Other then that one episode with the animals Chat Icon
I won’t say anything more about specifics not to ruin it for others

I also thought it was a little slow but I think it was needed so you can really grasp each moment in the series.

I just started watching this week and I'm glad that you guys said it's close to what really happened. I don't know anything about it (other than it happened) and I'd hate for them to take too much liberty with the storylines for drama.
