Cost of Utilities
I'm in Suffolk. We have a3 bedroom split.
Electric is about 200/month, depending on ac
Gas for heat and cooking can be anywhere from 40-200
Water every 3 months is about 30 but much higher in the summer for the sprinkler
Verizon is 160

Not sure yet. We have seen houses with both option. If anyone has info on both that would be helpful.

Definitely look for Gas. Oil is expensive and a pain to deal with because you have to either take the chance of not having a contract or you renegotiate your contract each year. The price is very dependent on the oil market.
When we had gas in our last house, we'd pay around $200-250 in the winter and probably a little under $100 in the summer. We had everything on gas - furnace, water heater, stove, laundry dryer, etc.
Current house doesn't have gas (it's down the road, and the gas company wants an obscene amount of money to run to our house), so we're stuck with oil. This year, it's been around $500/month during the cold months. Usually we once it's starts to warm up, then a final $300 fill up will be good for the summer. We have the furnace and water heater on the oil.

There are SO many variables. If you're serious about a house, you can ask the owners what their typical utility bills are.
Aside for oil/gas, there are tons of other variables...the temperature you personally leave your thermostat on, the number of people in your house, the appliances you run, the size of the house, etc.

We have a 2 bedroom house 1100 square feet. We do balanced billing and Lipa is $175/month
We order oil when needed and spend about $2k/year
Water is about $25 quarterly

All of this. There really is no way of telling.
We have friends who own a home that is more than 2x bigger than ours (we have a small cape, they have a expanded colonial). Their electric bill is less than 1/2. Even in summer. It depends on your personal preference of temperature control (my house is at meat locker temp at all times) We have Balanced billing w PSEG at $200 per month year round.
We have oil heat so that sucks a lot. Trying to get gas here is a fortune, so we are stuck. But we do balanced billing with that as well so it's the same every month, even in summer when we hardly use any. It just works out to keep us with some sort of budget.
Water has gone up and I'm not sure what we pay now, but in the summer it gets to be a little insane with the 2x sometimes 3x a day watering of the lawn (Decent size property)
ETA: if you can, try to get a home with gas heat. If you can avoid the whole conversion and the costs that come with it, you will save yourself such a headache in the future. (Unless you have that price deducted from the sale price of the house and have the money put aside) I've already said a million times, if we ever leave here, I'm not even looking at oil heat homes again.

We have gas. We pay 250 for both right now on a budget plan for both gas and electric. Last water bill was 25 but summer months with pool and sprinklers, we pay about 200 once in the summer. Homeowners is about 1200 for the year. ETA I have a 1200 rear dormered cape.

Really depends on so many things. Our old house was smaller, had new windows, gas heat, new central air and new roof, our gas and electric were signficantly more than a house with very old wiring, old windows, old heating and gas system and this house is signficantly larger. I think the main difference is our old house had so many levels in the split level it never heated/ cooled well. We now have a ranch with a full basement and the cost so far has been half
