Disney people. Star Wars dates announced!
Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open to the general public on May 31, 2019, while Walt Disney World’s version will debut a couple months later on August 29, 2019. However, it will open in phases, with Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run opening first, followed by Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at a later date. (Rise of the Resistance is the more complex, higher profile attraction.)

My son is OBSESSED with star wars.
Are there only 2 rides in the parks in this area? Is it fleshed out with other interactions and experiences?
Just curious.
I feel like it is going to be insanity when it opens. Much like how Harry Potter World was.

I'm actually not too happy to hear this. Was hoping they would open in December after our trip, they kept advertising "Late Fall". This is Late summer!! Now I feel Hollywood Studios crowds will be massive and also spillover into the other parks.

I just switched our dates to avoid this! We were supposed to go 8/25-9/3. We are now going 8/17-8/24. I was there for opening day of fantasy land and the new toy story land. Don’t want to do it again.
We are not in a rush to get there. We own dvc so we go a lot.

I have zero desire to visit Star Wars land. Zero. As a huge Disney fan it just doesn't appeal to me. If I had kids that loved it I'm sure I'd be into it.
ETA: I have a trip planned for the end of August. We may change it since the first few months are going to be absolutely NUTS.

Don't be entirely bummed. Disney very often does a soft open. If you plan August 25 as your day @ Hollywood Studios you have the potential to get lucky.

Typical crowd levels don't even come into play when a new attraction opens at WDW. The crowds will be insane for Star Wars land for a long time after it opens! That's great for the other parks though  Pandora and Toy Story Land are both still insanely crowded and they have been open for a while now!

We went the week before Thanksgiving. Hollywood Studios was insane - we left.

Disney has no more "quiet" time. We went the second week of November last year. It was the last week of Food & Wine and the first week of the Christmas party. It was MOBBED.

We didn’t go to Disney for Vets day weekend - we went later in the week (I think it was the Thursday after at Hollywood Studios). We did Universal for the holiday weekend since we got their Express Pass.

We will be going the week that falls after Vet's day and before Thanksgiving (since Thanksgiving is late this year), figured it would have been less crowded during that gap week. But not anymore lol.
