I knew one of the priests on that list and have dealt with him. In all irony he also was in charge of the altar boys.

He always favored certain boys too as that group of boys got the best mass assignments. Makes me wonder if any of those kids were abused.

a priest from my parish was removed for doing this to little boys, but nobody knew the identities of the boys. He was in charge of the altar servers too.. anyway, he wound up dying very young. Became an alcoholic and died of liver cancer or something like that I think.

Sadly, one of the identities of the boys was revealed a few years ago when he passed away of an overdose. It came out that he was deeply scarred from being abused by that priest as a child, and he developed substance abuse issues as a result. I wonder how many other people developed serious issues due to this happening to them.

The priest who married my parents was arrested and convicted. The priest who married me and DH was arrested (I do not think he has been convicted yet).

We now attend a nondenomenational church.

Sad that it’s just the list for the Archdiocese of Brooklyn. I’m sure if all of the lists were compiled for the different Dioceses in the NY Metro it would be astonishing.

Our former priest was ousted a few years ago for abuse that happened years ago at a Catholic HS in the Bronx. When it occurred he was sent to our parish as a fix to the problem. He baptized both of my kids. Makes me want to vomit.

Glad to see my childhood parish (and where I had DD baptized) did not make the list.

Absolutely repulsive and even more disgusting that the church covered it up for so long.

I’ve been saying this about the church for years. Between hiding pediphiles and their greedy $ grabbing - the church is nowhere for a family to be. You don’t need a building with a man in black to speak to or believe in god.

It is disgusting and my heart breaks for all of those hurt by this. And I agree with a PP - may they burn in hell for this

Catholic church needs to evolve. They cannot have priests anymore. Deacons that have families are more inspirational than regular priests.

It is terrible! The bishop that was recently "fired" -- McCarrick -- confirmed me!

Wait till it all comes out about the priests that fathered children (or paid for abortions of their children)! There has got to be slews of those, IMO!

The list keeps growing as to why I left the Catholic religion. Such a disgrace.

I never had a bad experience my entire life growing up in the Catholic faith. I’m sick to my stomach over this. I’m not sure I’ll ever go back with young kids now. The sick fact that I had to talk to my DS bc he was an alter boy makes me want to scream! The church we were going to for years now had death threats and attempted arson bc apparently there’s one priest still being covered up.

I'm heartbroken, I'm so angry, I'm sick... I just want to scream and cry.

I also called my parish to have them take my name off their registry.

I also wrote a letter to the Diocese about Barres. He was PROMOTED as he was being investigated for his part in moving priests around to protect them. I just have no more words... they deserve everything (and more) that's coming to them.

May they all rot in hell.

ETA - that list is only Diocese of Brooklyn. It doesn't include Rockville Centre, which covers all of Long Island.

That's awful. The whole thing makes me sick. I personally know 2 men that have received settlements from the church. They are both addicts and spent all their settlement money on drugs.

It's appalling that systematic abuse on such a large scale was covered up for decades. The whole church needs to be shut down. I don't know how anyone can support it anymore. If you do support the church, how could you ever allow your children to participate in anything? I would never be able to trust any priest.

So sick and disgusting. I checked NJ and none of my sons schools were on there or my parish.

I talk about my son all the time about being touched inappropriately and to say something. Always ask him questions. Everyone should be talking their kids. This happens in public schools, sports, extra curricular activities. Not just in the Catholic parish. There is a reason there is a huge sex offenders registry.

But I don't trust anyone, females, males, young female babysitters. Even family, yes I do trust my family but I still let my son know it doesn't matter who it is you tell me.
