paying off debt!!

with all the stuff i did in 2018, i put becoming debt free on the back burner.

i am happy to announce that i have paid off one of my medical bills in full, yesterday. i re-evaluated my numbers, and i just sent an additional $35 to the next one on the chopping block.

sometime this month, i will go through everything again and create my new plan of attack!

without counting the truck, but counting medical bills from my eye surgeries... i'm looking at about $5k.

i'm back to doing dave ramsey's baby steps. i've already saved my $1k emergency fund. now, i'm killing the debt.

yay! 2019 is the year i get this monkey off my back!

Congrats!!! I love Dave Ramsey. I follow some not all of his advice! We are currrntly doing the debt snowball for our student loans! Then my truck if it’s not paid off before our student loans. I did save for a large emergency fund last year and did baby step 3 before 2 because I just don’t know if I could do 1k for savings! But I follow the debt free community on Instagram and it’s so motivational! I got the idea of sink funds and so much more from there! Good luck and way too go!

Re: paying off debt!!

we did dave ramsey to pay off our debt as well.
it took about 5 years but it's such an amazing feeling to have it done!

we took a few family trips this year, and have $1,500 left on a cc, but other than that, debt free.

it was really helpful when i got let go form my job 2 weeks ago, because if we just buckle down, we can survive on DHs salary. we wouldn't be able to do that if we didn't get rid of all that debt.

keep at it and once you get there the feeling is amazing!

Re: paying off debt!!

no need for me to start a new thread.

i am happy to "report" that i found an extra $90. i just called the hospital where i had my surgeries and i gave it to them.

with that little extra payment, i have cut off one month on the life of that bill!!! yay!!

i'm starting to race myself to see which i accomplish first - reaching my goal weight or reaching debt freedom.

2019 is going to ROCK

I followed Dave Ramsay’s advice about 9 years ago before buying our house and it was the best thing I ever did. Love the debt snowball plan and I recommend it to everyone that asks for advice.

I’m not a fan of a lot of his other beliefs, but money-wise, he gives great advice.

yes, i don't agree with everything he believes... even in the money category, but he has a great plan.

i did it once before and then got divorced and moved to CA without health insurance. i had a few medical/dental expenses. just as i was about to pay everything off, i had my surgeries last year.

i'm happy that i'm back on track and am actively chipping away at it all. yay!
