work pet peeve

you send an email to the team asking them what charitable things they did for the holiday season, because you're going to publish the info.

they reply with "food drive."

you have to send another email:
what charity did the food go to?
do you have pictures to publish?
etc.

they reply with "no picture."

ok, but who did you donate the food to?

i hate having to pull the information out of these people. you're a grown-azz adult. give the info so i can move on to the next task on my to-do list, gee!

add your most recent work-related pet peeve, if you would like to get it off your chest.

When you send a “should I do A or should I do B” email, and the person writes back “yes”.

Grrr.....What is is? A or B?!

Re: work pet peeve

Uchhh I hate people sometimes.

Next email should be:

Q: What charitable donations have you made this year?

A:

Q: what was the name of the organization?

A:

Q: Do you have any photos from this particular donation you’d like published ?

A:

Adults. Functioning adults who run companies need to be taken by the hand and spoon fed. How they live everyday is beyond me!

Re: work pet peeve

I have a questionnaire that I send out to a bunch of people. One question is something like
"I need this code from your computer. It looks like 'ABC123'. It's not the code that looks like 123.456.789"

Of course, they respond with "123.456.789".... Chat Icon Chat Icon

We will be on a email with the whole office and it will be someone praising someone for something.... Oh yeah, their JOB!!!!

and then it is ALWAYS the same people who will do a reply ALL and then do "congratulations Bob" instead of just replying to the OP and the person who the email is about.

OMG I HATE this!
A new hire, a new baby, a promotion- and then the 1000 reply alls with CONGRATULATIONS or WELCOME TO THE TEAM!

But i found a great thing- it's called the Ignore button in Outlook. Hit that once and all the emails in that thread go right to the trash bin. Genius

The ignore button is my BFF at work! The file room sends out emails on a daily basis "please let us know if you have this file." At least 35 people respond "not I." They are not asking you to say you don't have it!! Only respond if you DO have it. And I don't need to see your response - just send it to the file room!!!

I cannot stand the reply all function.

My husband does this to me all the time. Do you want X or Y for dinner? His reply - Sure. It's not a yes or no question, you need to choose one. His reply - Either's fine, whatever you want. Ok, I kind of hate you, and I'm never going to ask your opinion again.

Re: work pet peeve

My work friend who works in a totally different department than mine always talks about business and how busy she is, yet she is always wandering around.
My boss complained to her boss that she was at my desk too much, keeping me from my work, which she does. She has a habit of telling a story the LOOONNNGGGG way, repeating herself.
I'm up to my eyeballs in paperwork, but she still has to stop at my desk and tell me about her sick kid, what's going on in her department, yadda, yadda.

Not like we eat lunch together EVERY day and you can tell me all that stuff when I am not working.

I'v got to figure out a nice way to drop her.
$hit, here she comes.

I don't know why some people always have to reply all and then add like 10 other people to the conversation.

Was trying to hit post reply and minimize the screen before she got to my cube.

Thankfully she went to lunch with someone from her department and I had a quiet lunch by myself, not having to hear about how her kid was puking up everything from a stomach virus. And you want me to be anywhere near you ?

I had someone tell me today to help her understand which emails she should be reading them.... All of them. And, which meetings should she attend. Again... all of them. If you are included on them, there is a reason. And, this is because we had to have a meeting to "get her up to speed" because she hadn't been paying attention and no longer understood what was going on.

Two of my co-workers have been drowning themselves in their new perfumes. Everyone, besides them of course, is complaining of headaches and runny eyes. It's crazy.

Re: work pet peeve

A woman in my office will constantly claim I didn't give her deposits and paperwork. We go back and forth, I tear my desk apart thinking I'm losing my mind. An hour later shes like "oh, never mind, I found it...it was on my desk". Get organized and clean up your desk and we won't have this problem!
