Sleep walking
Anyone have their child sleep walk? My son did this last night and it was very upsetting. I just keep thinking what would have happened if he fell down the stairs or walked into something and got hurt. Luckily we woke up and DH was following him.
Anyone have their child do this on a regular basis and care to share some tips to keep them safe? He opened his door and everything

Sleep walking
yes - my DD. We had to put a baby gate on top of the stairs. Most times I just wake up and guide her back to bed. She has never hurt herself but I wake pretty easy and her room is right next to mine. My DH did it as a child and he use to walk out the front door and fall asleep in the bushes! maybe get a baby gate for his room doorway?

Re: Sleep walking
Thank you. A gate is a good idea. I thought I was way past baby proofing, I guess we are going backwards

Re: Sleep walking
My 7 year old son does this once in a while. Not often. Maybe a handful of times.
Not that long ago I woke to him standing next to me when I was sleeping. Creepy! I guided him back to bed and he had no recollection of it the next day. Sometimes I think certain meds can do that. Just to him though. My other son never happens to

Sleep walking
My son does it. Started just after he turned one and the first time was at daycare. Scared the shit out of his teacher. Just make the house secure. I spoke to his dr about it and it’s sonewhat common.

Re: Sleep walking
I did it as a kid. Scary as shit. I'd wake up in all kinds of places in the house.
Just make sure- if you have a house alarm- that you have it set for when you are sleeping- in case he god forbid opens a door to go outside

I agree with this... I slept walked all the time as a kid and have been known to do this even as an adult. As a teen I DID walk outside... unlocked the door, went outside, ran to the back of the house, saw the swing set and went for a swing in the middle of the night, ran back inside, locked the doors and went right back to bed. So if you have an alarm...most definitely set it!
