Re: thank you card picture... yay or nay?

I say yay! Why not? I love picture thank you cards. Yeah it will cost a little more than plain thank yous, but who cares. It's prob going to go right in the trash for most people, but so would a normal thank you.

Also, I feel like with a plain card, you have to spend more time writing to fill the space. So the picture card saves him a whole bunch of writing. I would do as a PP suggested, leave a small space to handwrite a little something personalized, and done. It looks nice and thoughtful.

I think the picture is cute and it's fine as long as there is a spot for him to write something personal.

As an aside and totally not directed at Marathon-- I hate when you go to a party and as you leave you are handed a pre printed thank you card- tacky and lazy - take the time to write something

i guess i am tacky and lazy and i am totally cool with that!!! i dont hand out pre printed thank yous not attached to anything because that is just a waste. i dont do parties except for kid parties and as i stated my favor tags thank them for coming and the gift and even if i did do a thank you to mail out i wouldn't be doing handwritten ones either.

i dont understand why anyone needs that many thank yous!! you got thanked in person i am sure plenty of times why do you need another one??!!!

all it is is a waste of paper!

Love the picture. I hope you get it framed. I think it's a really cute idea for a thank you card. I agree with some others to also include a personal handwritten note.

I guess the deciding factor would come down to cost as I know you spend a lot on the event. What are the minimum number that you can order? Maybe just send the photo cards to family who you know will save and cherish.

For all those that say Yay and would love to receive one, what would you do with it?

I know if I got one, I would say how nice the pic and card was but then throw it with the junk mail that gets trashed.

I save all pictures. Goes in photo album or in memory box.

I throw them out too after I admire the picture. If I send a thank you with a picture, I’m not expecting everyone to save the picture. I do it because it looks cute.

Same. I don't save anything. I can't ,I have no space.
But I do enjoy seeing the picture for the time being. It's cute, makes me smile.
I might save it on the fridge or the mantel for a little bit then I dump it just like everything else.
Same with photo Christmas cards- I love getting them, love seeing how the kids have grown and the cool things people do with the pictures and design, but I can't keep them all.
I don't look at photo cards as a keepsake- I would expect everyone would throw them out. Except maybe like grandparents, close family

i don't think anyone expects them to be kept indefinitely.

unless, like you said, it's a grandparent.

I feel like some people do think this happens.

If you are fine with the cost then I say send them out. It is a great pic.

Me personally, I can't justify it because I feel like the cost, time and effort for me to do picture cards for it to end up in the trash isn't worth it.

i completely get that.
there have been times that i feel the same way.

for this particular situation, with SO still going on and on about the party and how it was "badass" makes me feel that the few extra $$ is worth it.

it's funny... before the party happened, i had resigned myself to the reality that I DID THIS and if SO didn't like it or appreciate it the way I WANT HIM TO, that i would be ok with it. i spoke to myself many, many nights to prepare myself for that. i reminded myself that i had the party because I WANTED TO and not because i was keeping score and expect him to thank me in any particular way.

i was all revved up for the "let down."

and he has surprised me with just the opposite lol
he still looks at the pictures. whenever someone who was there comes to the house, he goes on and on about what a great party it was. he has really surprised me with his reaction.

I think it's a great picture and would definitely send it out for a thank you card.

You can get cards CHEAP on Groupon, etc. I think Staples has one running right now. You would spend just as much if you bought a set of boxed cards.

If it's someone I'm close with, I put it up on the fridge for awhile. Once I need to make room for new stuff I toss it, but that doesn't mean it isn't appreciated and admired.

I actually put it on the mantle with the other cards we get - they stay up about a month, we admire them, then they go in the trash.
