School Holiday Shop

My oldest son is in 2nd grade. How many people do you usually have your kids shop for at the school store? right now I have his brother, me, my husband, and 4 grandparents... so 7 people total.
Not sure if thats too many? I know they don't get a ton of time to shop.... so now i'm thinking maybe i should just have him do brother, me and dad at school.... and then i'll take him to Five Below or something to pick out something little for the grandparents?

He's done it the past 2 years, but for some reason this year i'm second guessing how many people they have time to shop for HAHAH just curious what everybody else does....

Re: School Holiday Shop

I keep it to immediate family at those things. It gets expensive and the stuff isn't great.
She buys for me, DH, and sometimes she will buy for her 2 grandparents.

There are some cute stuff, but for the most part it gets put away. I tell them to stay away from jewelry for mommy. Usually the pens or mugs are used. LOL

I only send money for mom/dad/brother/cat. It's all overpriced junk each year. I work it and I cringe at how much kids spend on the garbage that is offered!

Just mom & dad. I don't even send in money for siblings because my kids have 4 siblings. It would just be too much.

I send in for the same as you. Plus they can buy themselves something.

I am not working so I volunteered last year and that’s a reasonable number. Anything more than that is complete chaos. I had a girl who had 20 people to buy for and $20 (everything is a dollar) and it was so hard. Especially since she started on her own and picked out a lot for herself and too much for her grandmothers dog... It took forever to get everything straightened out and for her to shop.

oh man!! 20 people?! I can imagine the craziness!! i volunteered when he was in kindergarten (I'm not working right now either, but now we have a younger DS so its harder for me to volunteer during the day...) so i can picture how frustrating it was trying to sort that all out!! LOL and the pet thing cracks me up! i was at the "pet gift" table the year i helped- and i think we were the busiest one! HAHA everybody wanted to buy a ton of stuff for their dogs, or their grandparents dogs or whatever- it was so cute, though!! Chat Icon

Re: School Holiday Shop

My answer is a little different because we have a 'blended family'.

Last year in 5th, I sent money. I told my son to buy for me, my SO, my SO's son and my parents. If he had enough left over he can buy for his dad and his dad's gf and her son. Somehow he got everyone done.

My SO's son is in 5th this year, we are sending money so he can buy for my SO, me, my son and our dog. His mother is sending money for herself and her other two boys. She asked for us to do it this way.
