Is your district closed today for Diwali?
This is the first year that our district has closed to observe. I’m wondering what other districts you know of are open or closed today? Just curious

I have never heard of a district being closed for Diwali. I wonder if this will spread?

I have never heard of a district being closed for Diwali. I wonder if this will spread?
I have to be honest, I had no idea what Diwali was. 
I had to google.
the funny thing is NYC is usually the most diverse in terms of ethnic backgrounds/religions etc.
So you would think they would close for something like this as opposed to some LI districts.
Interesting.

NYC is closed for Eid and Chinese New Year.. its only a matter of time I am sure. We will be going to school well into July with all these days off soon though.

I was thinking this too. I feel like eventually they will need to come out with a new holiday schedule. Probably break up the December break or else there wont be a summer break and school all year round.

Plainview was closed today for superintendents conference day
And they had school on Tuesday
My sons pre k follows Plainview schedule and when I called to confirm I was told
k-6th in Plainview had school on Tuesday; 7-12th had off for parent teacher conferences and weds they were all closed for professional dev/ superintendent conf

I agree, especially since it is so close to Easter/Passover break. That week hasn’t even been around as long as the other breaks. I remember it started when I was in school.

Our district took it away - kids are only off Monday and Tuesday.
Do they give you that time back elsewhere? Longer summer break?
