Re: Wine

2 wineries that I like are Hyde De Villaine and Stags Leap. You can buy bottles around $100 depending on the varietal and year.

LOL same.
And I want to add, when it comes to white you do NOT need to spend $100 for a VERY VERY good bottle of white.
Red, I can see how some can be that much and higher.
But white wine is completely different and the most I would spend on it would be $50 and that would be an extremely good bottle of white.
Red and whites are 2 different categories to be honest.

Lol! Same here Chat Icon but for special occasions, I pull out the good bottles. It's funny because the most expensive wine I've ever had, just wasn't for me. I would call it gross, but I'm sure someone out there would probably like it. I'd take a $15 bottle over that one anytime!

Re: Wine

It really depends what region you are looking for. For US wines:

Caymus
Cakebread
Duckhorn
Silver Oak
Shafer
Stag’s Leap
Jordan

If you want to go foreign, French Burgundies are really nice. You can probably get a nice Premier Cru or Grand Cru.

Whites:
Mersault
Puligny-Montrachet

Reds:
Pommard
Volnay
Nuit-Saint-Georges

Australian:
Penfolds has a few bin numbers that are around your price range

*disclaimer I don’t normally drink this stuff; I have my cheap good wine I drink at home. I just know these ones from wine tasting and working in a fancy restaurant for 7+ years. I tasted some really good stuff.

Caymus cabernet is a favorite of mine with some vintages being a little better than others but you really can't wrong with any of them. I also like Paul Hobbs pinot noir, Stag's Leap Artemis, and Merry Edwards. These are all from CA. Patz & Hall is a good red too.

For white wine, Cakebread chardonnay is a nice one, but I prefer white wines from France than the US. Sancerre is a nice type of white wine from France but I can't think of one off the top of my head right now.

I don't know of a white in that price range but for red, I like Silver Oak, Ulysses and Caymus

Sancerre is really nice. It’s hard to think of a winery in Europe because they do it by region. You’d need a map to check out where they grow the grapes. A nice Premier or Grand Cru would be good. You could always go with a commercial winery from France (for example Louis Jadot).

Wine.com has a nice system and you can see what the ratings are from Wine Spectator.

I forgot to mention Beaune (France) has good reds.
