Going back on the Pill
I have been off the pill for a long time. Since starting to try before getting prego with my 9 year old now. I am not ready for anything permanent since I heard some crazy stories, I don't want anything foreign in me so my only option is the pill for now.... well, till DH gets the ball to cut the balls. LOL!! I picked the pill bc at least if I don't like it I can stop. Any advise when starting? I started it when I was 18 and now 42 so goes to show you it's been a while.

Re: Going back on the Pill
I've been on the pill for a gazillion years - its the same now as it was back when i was 15
start it whenever you want, they have labels for the day of the week you want to use (doesn't always have to be the sunday start). I experimented for a few months on which day i wanted to start my pills so i could control which day i get my period every month. I get it every 4th Tuesday, like clockwork.. so its done by the weekend
other than that, maybe set a reminder for the first few months so you don't forget to take it? I just leave mine on the bathroom counter and take it every night when i wash face/brush teeth etc

Re: Going back on the Pill
Been on it forever as well. I stopped when I had my Son (8 years old) and went back on it pretty much as soon as I could after he was born.
I always start my pack on Sunday after I get my period. I leave it on my nightstand and take it right before I go to bed.
IMO I feel better on it then off, I like knowing when I am getting it, feel like it regulates me, I don't get heavy periods...sometimes it's barely there.
I just turned 43

Re: Going back on the Pill
I've been on it since I was a teenager (with the exception of when I was trying to get pregnant) because I have irregular cycles and painful periods. I started the Sunday after I got my period.

Going back on the Pill
I go back and forth on whether to go back on it. I was on it for 12 years before I got pregnant with DD. I have an iud now and hate it but I’m terrified of forgetting to take the pill and getting pregnant. I felt much better WITH the hormones than without.
My GYN told me if I went back on it I would have to start the day I got the iud out so you can start it any day.

Re: Going back on the Pill
When I first started it years and years ago, I just remember nausea as being the only initial side effect. This time, it took me awhile to find the right pill (I ended up getting an iud instead). I was experiencing anxiety and went through a few before I found the right one. I came off of it for an unrelated reason but just wanted to give you a heads up to be in tune with your body and moods and that there may be trial and error. Or not - you may be less sensitive but just sharing my experience. It was very different at 35 than at 23!

Re: Going back on the Pill
Thanks all for the advise. I just want to do this so at least I can stop if it's not right or changes my mood, weight, etc. I know I had no problem years ago, but that was from age 18 to 31. Hopefully no issues. I am too scared of an iud or anything foreign in me.

Be afraid of forgetting! I got my iud out because I was unsure, went on the pill, must have forgotten to take it, and bam, pregnant with #4! Doctor told me it isn't uncommon at all!
