Black Wedding Dress
We went to a wedding today and the bride wore a black wedding gown! She looked good, but it seemed so dark. My husband and I both thought she looked like Morticia.
Is this a new thing?

I don't know but I saw pics on Facebook recently of a wedding someone attended and the bride was in a black gown too. But to be honest both the bride and groom looked a little weird so I chalked it up to that. Lol

I don’t know if it’s a thing, but I kind of know it’s a thing to wear colors now in wedding dresses— be it colored shoes or something.
Was it a second wedding for either of them?
And good for her that she did what she wanted. If I ever get married again (not happening for me; I keep saying I never want to get married again, BTDT), then I would like to wear a black dress, but more of something dressy, but not a gown.

No, it's both their first wedding. She's only 28. The only thing I could think of is that her father passed away about 6 years ago. Or, it was just a fashion statement and what she wanted to do. Either way, it was a lovely wedding. I just think a bride should be in a light color!

I think it’s awesome when people do what they want to do. Living unapologetically and true to yourself is something that too many people struggle with.

I’d love to see it too! At first thought I’m not a fan of the idea, but like the other posters said, you have to do what you want in life! Was it a big flowy dress or something simple?

I don't feel comfortable posting a photo without someone's permission. But it was lacy, strapless, a mermaid style. It was fitted until about the knees and then flared out. It was pretty. I just felt a lighter color would have been better. Particularly since it was a day wedding. The ceremony was at 11:30 am.

I get what you are saying about a lighter color early in the day. However, she did what she wanted to.
I would love to see pics, too. OP anyway that you could just cut the head off of the pic?

Ive never seen it but I kinda love that she went so different.
I just looked up black wedding dress on Pinterest and they look gorgeous! I love it.

I don't know if it's a " thing" per se. I think it's a thing for people who do their best to shock people and just be different for the sake of being different, which is really just them conforming in a different way. If it was an evening gown/cocktail dress in black, I think it would be nice. You seemed to describe a wedding dress in black, which I can see how it would look like Morticia Adams. To each their own. 28 is SUPER young to get married in 2018...maybe the second wedding she will wear something else!

I am almost positive SJP wore a black wedding dress
I am not sure how I feel about it... not my thing personally for myself but I do like things that are a little different.
I wore fuschia shoes under my gown.

What difference does it make what the bride wears to her own wedding? What’s important is they had sufficient food and alcohol to go around. Focus on the important stuff here people!
