Bulldog breeders

Hi all! My friend is looking for a bulldog breeder. She has contacted breeders as far as Connecticut. She contacted one breeder on long island. they seem to be licensed, we have only seen good reviews on them but one thing seems to be off. She asked if she comes to see the puppy, can she see the parents as well and their medical records. He said he has their medical records but the parents are not on-site. He says he keeps them in a kennel. To me that just seems like a red flag. Am I wrong? She said she contacted a few other breeders and they have told her the same thing. this just doesn't seem right. Do breeders normally keep the parents at a kennel? It just doesn't seem right to me. She said she is going to keep looking. I just want to know if this seems like the norm. TIA!!

I think that is a huge red flag. I would stay away from that breeder. It kind of sounds like puppy mill to me.

I have no dogs, but I did get one cat from a breeder. I had another cat from a breeder, but he sadly passed away from FIP. But that is a story for another day.

Anyway, the cat I have now from a breeder, I carefully examined everything. The breeder was excellent. I checked everything out and the house was clean and she was very particular about all her cats. I also checked her credentials online and all was good (they usually belong to a club or something).

When she brought down the kitten, he cried for his mom. He was very attached to his mom. This is why I think your friend’s situation is strange. No mom on site?

There was no dad on site at my breeder’s, but that is to be expected with cats.
