Re: PB BackPack

I hear the small is super tiny and will barely fit a folder so I'd go with the large

The small one is more than enough, if I don’t bad remember it’s 15”. This is the size my 5 yr old have now. However the pre-K one is tiny!

Yep: main thing you need is a folder and water bottle/lunch box.

I had to upgrade to a large in K from preschool... so just got the last kid a large to start. The large has better space for tiny fingers to squeeze in a water bottle (main reason) and in the small, you had to put the folder in first and angle other stuff in... the large it just fits

100% go for the large. They last more than a year too so you benefit from having the larger size.

My son is going into the 4th grade and has used his PB backpack since K. Even using it in the summers for camp. It's in excellent condition.

Re: PB BackPack

If you’re only planning on using it a year or two small is fine. Behind that, get the large. As pp stated, avoid the pre-k size.

FWIW, DS used the large for daycare and we got him the large for Kindergarten. I can't imagine having any smaller. It's definitely not too big for Kindergarten. He can wear the large no problems.

They need the large. When it comes, it’ll seem huge and ridiculous on your LO, but they somehow manage and grow into it and they really need it to cart all their stuff back and forth.

Small and large don’t seem to be very different regarding sizes. DS had the small one for his last yr of pre-K and I thought it would still be good to use for Sep when he enters K. It wouldn’t? Will they need to carry a lot of things in K?

I agree. The large has been perfect for my DD in K and 1st.

The extra few inches fit a standard folder easily. You can get it in the small with some maneuvers. I just bought the large for my 35 inch petite kiddo for preschool. Looks big, but it’s doable.

I had pre k for daycare and it was so so small. My daughter uses it to play w now or pack some small toys in. For Prek we used a larger different brand and for K the small which was fine. For 1st I’ll prob get the large and maybe keep for a few years.

Dd fit a folder, bag with a change of clothes, lunch bag, and snack bag in it for pre-k every day, with room to spare (into a small). I doubt for K much bigger is needed. If your Ds already has a small, I think it’s fine. If you’re buying a new one then I’d go with a large to get further years out of it but I wouldn’t purchase a new one just to get a bigger size just for the Kindergarten year.

Get the large. I got the large last year for my preschooler and while it was a tad big, it was fine and it’s perfect for kindergarten in September. I can see it lasting another couple of years too, taking him into 2nd grade (as long as he’s still into Superheros).

My daughter is 3 and going to nursery for the first time in september and I got her the small. It’ll be good for a couple of years and she might be able to pull it off for kindergarten as well.

The pre-k size is too small for anything.

We use small
My 4 year old fits her lunch box, 2 folders, and a 1 inch deep clipboard in there everyday. For summer camp we throw in a bathing suit and change of clothes as well. All fit.

Re: PB BackPack

Thanks all!

I got the large so we can hopefully get a few years out of it. Of course he wanted the Hot wheels one which hasnt been on sale since its probably new - but they had 25% off one item plus free shipping today so I just got it. I dont think I wouldnt get it much cheaper than that. I am going to keep my eye out for a sale on the lunch bag.
