Real estate stress

My house sold in 24hrs. Contracts signed within 3 days. I was scrambling to find a rental because I want to take my time looking for a new house. All the rentals are gross, won’t take pets or are gone within a blink of an eye. A friend of a friend called me last night she had just gotten a listing. Saw it last night. Lease signed today. Moving in 2 weeks before close. Ahhhhhh.

I don’t deal with change that well and right now my life is insane.

Just needed to vent. It’s all for the best we are moving into a fantastic school district from a really crappy one just in time for kindergarten. I just need a moment to breathe.

Real estate stress

wow. that's a lot!!

when we bought the house we were in in NJ, we fell in love with it even before seeing it. we walked in, walked around, walked out, put in an offer, by the time we got back home (literally around the corner... if i drew you a map, you'd laugh) the offer was accepted. the contracts were signed the following day.

so, i understand how a move can happen instantaneously.

happy to hear you're moving where you want to raise your family.

Re: Real estate stress

I feel your pain. Sold house with stbx and I was in contract to buy another house - that deal fell through exactly one week before closing on the sale of our house in January. I had to find an apartment that would take a dog AND offer a short term lease in about 2 days and then figure out what to do with all my furniture and stuff that wouldn't fit into the new apartment. So half of my stuff is in storage and I have since found a new house to buy - closing in 2 weeks - so moving again for the second time in 4 months! Chat Icon I'm super excited, but it is so stressful!

You are not alone! I am going through the same thing right now. It’s an unbelievably stressful time. Try your best to focus on one day at a time. Yes, easier said than done right. We are picking up and moving our family to NC and having to time things right has probably been the worst part so far. I just started packing and I feel like it’ll never get done. Overwhelming to say the least. I just keep on eyeing that end result and it’s about the only thing that puts a smile on my face these days Chat Icon

Re: Real estate stress

We can’t decide if we are staying in NY or leaving. We keep going back and forth because of dh’s salary. We signed a 2 year lease with the option to terminate sooner if need be. We want 2 years to have time to look for a home without being incredibly stressed and that also gives us the time to decide if we are going or staying.

Denver, NC. It’s about 25 miles outside Charlotte.

Good luck!

Renting will make everything WAY less stressful. We listed our house last summer and it sold quickly. Before we closed, we had a lot of outside stresses and we also couldn't find a house we loved to buy. We wound up renting last October. Now we are 3 days away from closing on our forever home and couldn't be happier.

Everything happened for a reason and being in a rental made house hunting MUCH easier than being on a tight timeline. Plus, sellers love to hear that you're in a rental and not on your own timeline or bound by the sale of your own home.
