If you had to pick out an outfit for a woman in her 70s for their funeral (to wear in coffin) is elegant chiffon sheer sleeves ok with a fully lined dress underneath? Something along these lines:

sure why not. I believe the person should be dressed in an outfit they would pick out. her style.

Re: Very random q

Thx. My friend has to pick it out for a relative and she's second guessing herself so I figured I'd throw it out there

To be honest, you can't go wrong with anything. My Father was not a suit guy and we buried him in a Nike outfit because that was him. Go with what reflects the individual person.

Not 70 at the time but my mom was buried in her favorite outfit - a floral skirt and blouse. my dad his favorite '3 piece suit'.

That's a pretty dress.

I love that. My mom had her burial outfit picked out in advance, which happened to be the dress she wore for my wedding, and she looked lovely.

Re: Very random q

Of course it is fine. There are no "rules".
When MIL died, we buried her in the dress she wore to our wedding, and the Isotoner slippers she wore too.
When FIL died, we buried him in a pair of slacks, a polo shirt and a cardigan sweater. Slippers because his shoes didn't fit.

I'd like to be buried in my favorite yoga pants and sweatshirt.

My mother already has hers picked, with instructions labeled on it, in her closet.

My father was also not a suit guy but mom picked a sweater and blazer. She also put socks on him, which he never, ever wore. Later my cousins ribbed my mom about the socks, jokingly of course but it was funny and true. I'm not even sure he wore socks to my wedding!

Re: Very random q

My husband is a funeral director. Long sleeves are perfect.

Short sleeves might require make up on arms.

Sorry for you loss!
