I wish they would now start cracking down on people who rush the kids out of boosters when they are way too small to safely be in just a seat belt with no belt positioning booster.

This is a new law? I thought it was till 2 by law, but technically for safety as long as possible till 4. We switched my DS at 3 1/2.

It waa never a law in ny.... just a recommendation

How in the world is that going to be enforced? Seat checks? Are they going to ask for birth certificates?
That being said... my 2 year old is still rear facing. I believe it is safer for her right now. My older kids are in harnesses and will be until they don’t fit.
Step in the right direction... but there is so much that hasn’t been tested like:
1. What percentage of deaths are due to kids being incorrectly restrained? When I worked in an ER, all kids who came in had no seat belt at all in a crash. Many of the car seat safety things I read... the kid was never buckled in.
2. Third rows: How safe is that seat? Those seats have never been tested from what I can find. My oldest is in one and I’m thinking of switching car types because of this. This is more important to me.
3. Rear crashes: those are “unsurvivable” over 30 mph. That’s the only type of accident I ever got into (thanks, texting people). I had a metal bar on that car that saved it and my 2 kids.

That's great. Hopefully people abide by the law. I know way too many parents who turned their kids before 2. My DS is 2.5 and I have no plans on switching him.
