when was the last time you got a physical? UDPATE with question
Just curious.. It occurred to me today that it's been close to 2 or 3 years since I've gone to the doctor for a physcial...
ETA: Can anyone recommend your dr? I'm in nassau

I can't even recall to be honest. I have severe medical anxiety to the point of it being debiltating. So physicals really don't happen

Every Feb. I get a mamo and sono every March. My mom, grandmother and grandmother all died before 55 of breast cancer so if I ever get it I want it caught early so I don't leave my girls motherless and my dad passed at 50 from a heart attack. I'm very on top of this and force dh to be too.

I have this with the dentist! It's getting worse as I get older too! I thought I was he only one that had the debilitating fears!!
As for my physical I'm good with the regular drs. I get my pap and physical yearly.

Me too.
My blood pressure gets so high (190/120 or some such thing) that the Dr puts me on BP medication - then when I'm not at the doctor it makes my BP so low that I am sluggish, sleepy, etc.
They have it written in my chart that my BP will be high but to ignore it. But it never works and always causes a big problem. Which just raises my BP more and makes me want to never go.
I only go when absolutely necessary.

This past march. I've been going once a year for the past 5 or so years. After a few unexpected passings, I make it a point to get a blood test every year.

Cardiologist every 6 months - I have high blood pressure
Gyn/mammo/sono every year.
Orthopedist every year.
Internist only when I have to. I did have a physical last year, but did not like the doctor.
Dermatologist is missing from this list.

Didnt go for agesssssss. Recently i had major panick attacks so i finally went to ask for meds, get blood work etc. I go now every year.

Before cancer, I rarely went for a physical. I was so skeeved out by medical stuff and the thought of having my blood drawn made me extremely anxious. I would go for my annual gynecologist and dermatologist appointments, though.
Now, I don't bother with physicals. I no longer have medical anxiety related to the physical aspect of blood draws, but I have anxiety over test results. I see my oncologist yearly, my plastic surgeon yearly, and my surgical oncologist twice a year, so I'm well covered with medical shit. I don't have a GP - I go to City MD if I don't feel well and if something lingers for more than a couple weeks, I have to go to my oncologist anyway to rule out anything serious.

This is also one of the reasons I don't go. It's never gotten to the point where I've been put on BP medication, but my BP is always high (and my heart rate high) when I first get there b/c I get so nervous. Then they take my BP again later and it's perfectly normal. But it's an annoying cycle b/c I get stressed knowing that my BP will be high which of course makes it worse

I go twice a year Bc my primary care doctor also monitors my thyroid which I get checked every 6 months.

Last August. My doctor said due to my age and health, I can go every other year.
I get a Pap smear every year at my ObGyn.
Dermatologist - every year for a skin check - usually go in July.
