An old friend from hs just told me she was doing this.. a "brunch" themed wedding bc that is her and her DH's favorite. I thought it was cute but I can't remember if it's dinner or lunch.

this exactly. I love taco bell, but I'm not going to have crunch wrap supremes at my wedding!

yes Im sure it is cheaper, what i mean is I dont jump to judge if someone is being cheap because they are choosing to have breakfast themed wedding vs full dinner.
I cant and no one should assume they are cheap. perhaps they have fallen on hard times, perhaps they dont believe in spending $50,000 + on a wedding OR maybe they are cheap. either way its their wedding.
I said this before, MOST wedding out of NYS are simple, they serve cake and drinks sometimes finger sandwiches.

i get oos weddings are different and simpler. This just seems too simple. My dh thinks there are going to be other options. But i don't see that happening

Serving breakfast at a wedding
This wedding sounds right up my alley. I love me some breakfast and would rather eat that at a wedding then the "typical" wedding meal: start off with a salad that looks it came out of a weed wacker that is either over or under dressed, improperly cooked pasta, and a dinner entree protein that was either under or overcooked.

Honestly I would love it.
Like others said wedding outside long island and the tri state area are much different. I learned this when I went to an upstate wedding.
IMO its not cheap, esp. If its what they liked. They warned guests and guess what the guests don't have to go.
Know what insane to me people thinking they need to spend loads and loads of money on a wedding. Not everyone is well off and even if they are not everyone feels the need to blow the money on a one day affair!
I agree. I love breakfast for dinner! And there's no rule that people need to go in to debt just to make sure their wedding guests get a fancy meal. The important thing is being there for the couple and celebrating them. And honestly I've been to so many weddings that cost a small fortune and the food wasn't even that good, small portions, dried out meat, etc. I would much prefer a nice stack of pancake to another dried out chicken breast with overcooked veggies on the side

I guess I am in the miniscule minority that finds breakfast food for dinner repulsive. And I can never eat pancakes even at 8 am because tbe carb overload spikes my blood sugar so bad I crash and am mind numbingly exhausted after eating them.
This has nothing to do with the wedding and what they serve. Just interesting how people go ga ga for breakfast foods at night and I would never consider it after 12 noon

Totally agree with this.
I really don't understand why weddings turned into what they have up here. Does everyone feel the need to impress their friends and family so much? and the guests feel entitled to a fancy party?
I fall into the trap too, judging weddings... however, to me, I totally support something like this as opposed to more than half the crappy catering halls around here. To me there is more worth in simple, different food, in someones backyard than an outdated cheesy wedding hall with some low rent appetizers, dried out, gussied up cafeteria food passed off as fancy while dodging 2 other weddings at the venue.

That's really not true. I've been to many, many, many weddings out of state and none of them were like this. They all served a full meal - the cocktail hour was just not as elaborate.

I agree too. I would enjoy this more then bland chicken or salmon. I would enjoy an omlete station and a mimosa over that anytime!

Brunch is my favorite meal so I wouldn't mind breakfast items for dinner. Hope it includes a full spread and not just eggs and pancakes.
I just got invited to a brunch wedding. I know for fact it was due to money. I don't mind one bit. I much prefer that than being served dinner at like 9:30. It'll be better for the kids too.

No, I'm the same way. I can't eat anything sweet as a meal, I get a horrible headache. If I eat pancakes, they're dessert.
