feeling excited in a silly way... another party - pic of invite added
looks like i'm in a party hosting mood.
tomorrow i'm sending out invites for a Favorite Things Party.
i'm so excited!!
you would think that the stress i've put myself through with SO's surprise party, i wouldn't want to host another party. but i really want to have a ladies' night with appetizers and booze and giggles.
has anyone had one of these parties?
how did it go?

no.
the concept of this party is:
each guest is asked to pick one item in their life that they like (you provide a price limit) (i'm going with $7. it could be a lipstick, a cupcake, a mascara, a plant, etc.
you ask each guest to bring a certain number of that item (i went with three)
during the party, you trade favorite things.
there are all sorts of variations on pinterest...
i'm inviting all the local women in my family... 24 (including myself)
i'm having it be a potluck of appetizers and desserts. i'll supply all the soft drinks, wine, rum punch. i'm also making macarons for the favor, and i bought pretty shopping bags to take all your new things home in.
i hope i didn't leave anything out.

well that sounds way better than a party where im obligated to buy tupperware and crap. thats a nice idea.

yeah, i thought it was an awesome concept!
i discovered it about 18 months ago and kept delaying having my own. i finally pulled the trigger. the invites are in the mail!!
a lot of the people who have the party use parts of the song lyric from "the sound of music."
i made the invites look like packages tied with string.

This sounds like a great idea! Just wondering, how did you explain all of this in the invitation?
first image is invite, then i added the second image on a tag and tied it all together with string as if it were one package.
