Health insurance companies
I am a practitioner looking to get credentialed with the most used/popular health insurance companies in the area. It would be so helpful if I could get a feel for which ones are used the most often. Thanks!

I work in healthcare and by the far the most I see are Emblem/GHI/Hip. Followed by Blue Cross Blue Shield, then United/Oxford, then careconnect.. In the practice I work for on North Shore nassau, I see very little Aetna or Cigna. Also see a fair bit of the managed Medicaid plans, like Healthfust and Fidelis.

Most plans are Managed ****** plans, I work in healthcare too and for one of the insurance companies. MOST providers dont seem to like the Emblem, HIP etc.

I would definitely get credentialed with GHI, given all FDNY, NYPD, City teachers, and other city workers get their benefits through them.. I feel like there's sooo many city workers that live in my area

I have NYSHIP. I used to have BCBS. I preferred BCBS. If you're on LI it might be a good idea to take NYSHIP because all the LI teachers have it. If you're in the city I guess you don't have to because hardly any of them do.
I had GHI growing up (my dad works for the city) and my parents still have it and have never had an issue though my mom did say a lot of doctors have recently stopped taking it.

We have blue cross/blue shield but I don't know if its empire and its issued through another company which is confusing when trying to get help.
We did have united healthcare thorough Oxford before DH company switched this year

we have united & emblem HIP
if you are a primary, make sure you dont go through healthcare partners for referrals on emblem/hip. it's a real pain to work with as a patient, so i switched primarys.

Thank u. I am on LI and a lot of my current patients are teachers so I will look into that one as well.
