move to Ft Mill/Lake Wylie or Charlotte?

Hi. I am currently researching places to relocate to! We are meeting a realtor and have a short window of time to tour this area. Is anyone familiar with Ft Mill, SC? If so, what subdivisions are highly recommended? I notice that there are so many different price points in these areas. Would you prefer Ft Mill schools over Charlotte? Love love the style of homes in Ballantyne/Charlotte. What about Lake Wylie in SC? Our agent recommended it but don't want to waste time! Thanks

move to Ft Mill/Lake Wylie or Charlotte?

My husband has an office in Charlotte and we toyed a bit with relocating. All of his employees (most from NY) moved to Ft. Mill and love it. I really liked the area and the schools were great, unless you have a special needs child. That was the reason we did not pursue the move further. If we had a typical child, the schools seem fantastic. I also spoke to the district and they were wonderful and very helpful.

I have some childhood friends that relocated to the Charlotte area. One is in Ft. Mill, SC (although I think the official area is Tega Cay) and the schools are supposed to be really good there. Another one moved north of Charlotte to Moorseville, NC. Also a nice area. I would go on the city data forums and ask some questions. I am not sure if the cost of living is cheaper in SC vs NC.
