Real time travel to White Plains in morning commute
Settle the argument.
I did mapquest but I would like to know from those who actually do it, what is the realistic travel time to go to White Plains leaving LI (Nassau) at 7:30am?
DH has to be see a client there. MapQuest says 1 hour and 15 minutes. I am thinking it has to be over 1.5 hours. Going through Throgs neck and the construction work there.

Re: Real time travel to White Plains in morning commute
I would use waze and still leave earlier than it says. Once your get thru the orchard beach/city island exit, there's not much traffic but btwn nassau and that section of the Bronx, it's bad. Unless it doesn't even take you that route... Anyway, use waze!

Re: Real time travel to White Plains in morning commute
What time does he need to be there? I live in Nassau and drive to the Bronx every day. I leave at 6:15am and am at work by 7:45.
I would double that going to White Plains to be honest... the bridges are all under construction right now, the Cross Island is a disaster in the morning and the Cross Bronx is a parking lot.

Real time travel to White Plains in morning commute
Min 2 hrs. Traffic is a nightmare. I hear on the news everyday that there are major delays on the Whitestone & Throgs Neck bridges because of construction. Better to be early that late IMO.

I live in Bayside near the Throgs Neck / Clearview / Cross Island. It's a nightmare with construction on both bridges at the same time. Wonder what genius came up with that idea.
I'd allow 2 hours. If he's early, he can always grab a coffee somewhere.

Re: Real time travel to White Plains in morning commute
I would leave closer to 6:45 - 7:00 to be honest. By 7:00am the Cross Island is a parking lot and getting over any of the bridges takes at least 15-20 minutes. I do not need to be to work until 9:00am tomorrow and I am leaving at 7:00 (to get to the Bronx).

Real time travel to White Plains in morning commute
2.5 hours to go to white plains from Nassau at 7:30am? I'd better tell him. I thought 2 hours max. we were both far from it.

Depends on where in Nassau. I used to commute from Levittown to Elmont. If I left at 6:45, there was very little traffic and I would make it in 20-25 minutes. If I left at 7:00, the Southern State was a disaster and it would easily take me 50 minutes!!!
ETA: When does he need to travel there? You could always put it into Waze in the days leading up to it and see how long it says it will take to give you a better estimate.

Re: Real time travel to White Plains in morning commute
I would try to leave before 7 if possible. I think that's the time when traffic really starts to build up.

I don't know how bad it is now, but I used to do it for a client probably around 7 years ago.
I remember some days leaving at 7 and not arriving to the client until 10. It was really sucky since I was working until 10 the night before. I was living in wantagh and heading to a business by the Galaria up there.
And yes with no traffic it was around 1-1:15 hrs
