Trump is pulling out of the Paris environmental accord.

Because he wants to save coal jobs.

I'm actually glad I don't have kids. because who needs all those silly regulations that do nothing. I mean most scientist agree about global warming...but ya know. The GOP knows better because they just flat out deny science.

We all know that if its a legitimate rape a woman's body shuts that down. Todd Akin was great to give us that gem.

or that the earth will end when God says so.

Michelle Bachman knows that carbon monoxide is not harmful.

Evolution is just a myth.......

I saw somewhere that 70% of Americans support remaining in the deal. I also saw that Mitt Romney was in favor. Now we're in good company with Syria and Nicaragua. Chat Icon

But, his coal mining friends within the 1% don't like it, so he's going with them instead. As per usual, it's a big ole f' you to the American people. He is dismantling this country one piece at a time. It's just mind-boggling.

Even big oil companies like Exxon & BP were in favor of remaining in the deal.

This makes me sick to my stomach.

So glad to know we're in such good company with the ONLY 2 other countries that are not a part of itChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Completely agree. However it takes a SPECIAL kind of kook to say such stupid crap. And some of theses people (not just on the list) are the "leaders" of the GOP.

But the denial of science and civil and personal rights should not sit well with anyone.

For damn sake! Rick Perry should NEVER have taken the position of Secretary of Energy. THAT should be all the proof you need. He was put in charge of a department he is not qualified to run and said that he wanted to eliminate!!!!....

...Like Betsey DeVos

...Like Jared Kushner

...like frikkin JEFF "racist" Sessions!! He was DENIED being appointed a federal judge because at the time he was deemed too racist.

So if you voted GOP with the hopes of MAKA you actually screwed the country. Because those at the top and in charge don't know what the hell they are doing.

And it starts with Trump.

So then, if you believe in climate change and the havoc it is and will continue to wreak on our planet, you should be livid about this latest move. Regardless of who you voted for

Literally everything Trump is in favor of helps big businesses and the super wealthy. I don't know when but I truly hope that people wake up and realize that he does not, in any way, care about "regular" people.

Attention Republicans- dissent is patriotic! You don't have to be a "Tump supporter" to be a Republican.

I'm honestly surprised that anyone thought that Trump would care about "regular" people. He said what some people wanted to hear. I never believed a word of it.

Here is what I take issue with when it comes to these statements (and this is not directed specifically at you.)

I hear this about SO many of his endeavors. So many Repubs say "Oh I don't agree with [insert particular thing he's done]."

I hear it so often and, frankly, I'm not convinced it's just a Trump thing, because he's walking the party line for the most part. Only some of the more moderate Republicans have come out in support of climate change endeavors.

Republicans at this point just seem to have aligned themselves with multiple repulsive positions that no one claims to agree with - anti choice and same sex marriage, tax breaks for the rich, anti climate change, school choice, etc.

I just don't get the appeal of the party at all.

Re: Say goodby to the enviornment

Why is he the only one that gets a say in this. He cant be overridden in his choice or is that all the republicans like usual are being a bunch of wimps and not standing up to him!!

How does anyone think this man is intelligent at all and is actually looking out for regular people.

He cares about himself only.

The most scariest thing is there are still tons of supporters who think he does no wrong and would elect him again into office!!

This is what I do not understand. It seems like checks and balances do not exist.

Also does anyone know any places that I can donate money to to support the push for/development of green energy? Thanks!

"According to the terms of the Paris Agreement, any signatory may withdraw for any reason, but may only do so on a timetable set out in the agreement:

As a matter of both international law and U.S. law, the president could withdraw from the Paris Agreement pursuant to Article 28.1, which allows a party to withdraw by giving one year’s written notification to the Depositary (i.e., the U.N. Secretary-General), beginning three years after the Paris Agreement’s entry into force for that party.

In other words, since the agreement went into effect on November 4, 2016, the earliest President Trump could give written notice of withdrawal would be November 4, 2019. That withdrawal wouldn’t take effect until one year later, on November 4, 2020, exactly one day after the next presidential election, potentially making the next election a referendum on climate change and the Paris Accord."

Optically I think this looks bad for the US. But, I am curious why else you think this is bad. The entire agreement is voluntary, with nations being encouraged to lower emissions but not mandated to do so. There are no consequences if you don't. If in 5 years when they check in you haven't done anything nothing happens. The US has to contribute a lot of money to be part of the deal (100 bullion a year) yet countries like China, who is the number one offender has contributed nothing.

Honestly the agreement sounds like a way to help save the planet but in reality it does nothing concrete to make sure that happens.

I think people like to get mad about things like this but in reality they don't know much about it and will still jump in their giant, gas guzzling SUVs to go pick up their kids this afternoon.

How many of us actually walk the walk that we are so outraged that the US isn't doing?

Thank you. This isn't about saving the planet. It is about redistributing America's wealth - yours and mine - to other countries. It's all for show. If people want to save the environment then they would be doing it. Instead of celebrities crying over the momentary collapse of the earth, perhaps they should permanently park their private jets. Every person can take action regardless of whether the US is in the Paris climate accord which, quite frankly, I bet half the people who are so outraged never even heard of before yesterday. It is great to see people concerned about the environment but the hypocrisy is astounding.

Where are you getting this $100 billion per year information? From what I've read it's $10 billion collectively. We pledged $3 billion but so far have only given $1 billion.

We support other countries financially for so many things, I don't see why clean energy isn't an important investment for all of us. Not to mention, we are one of the top contributers to green house gases so we owe it to other countries to do something substantial about it.
