Ben Stiller and wife announce split
Actors Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor have called it quits after 17 years of marriage.
The shock split was reported on Friday, with the pair announcing the news in a joint statement.
'With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate,' Stiller and Taylor told ET.
'Our priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends. We kindly ask that the media respect our privacy at this time.'
Ben, 51 and Christine, 45, first met on the set of Fox TV pilot Heat Vision and Jack in 1999.
They married in 2000 at an oceanfront ceremony in Kauai, Hawaii and share two children, daughter Ella Olivia, 15 and son Quinlin Dempsey, 12.
'When I met her, I pretty much thought, "That's the person,"' Ben told ET in a 2007 interview. 'It was like, "Wow, this is a great person. I love her."'
Over the years the couple starred in several comedies together, including Zoolander, Zoolander 2, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Tropic Thunder and Arrested Development.

I don't know why, but this separation is hitting me different than others. I actually feel sad. They seemed so great together.

I think I read too many gossip sites to be surprised. He has a reputation for being a dbag so I'm surprised she put up with him this long.

This! I liked him until I started reading all the stuff about him. With that, I'm not surprised they are over.

Is it bad that I really don't have enough fuks to give about celebrity couples? Or celebrities in general?
I have enough to worry about with my own friends and family.
I don't think any of these self absorbed a holes would care if my marriage was on the rocks

No I don't know why people get upset when celebrity couples split up. Its not like they are your friends and it has any impact on your life.
Our culture is so weirdly celebrity obsessed, it bothers me often.

Yes but I meant why people care enough to be actually sad over a celeb couple who you never met and never will, splitting up.
Like these people aren't even a blip on my radar other than to come on here to see pics of what they are wearing etc

But just like you said when you say "I find that sad" are you actually sad and affected by it or are you just saying that it seems like it's a sad situation (for them, and their kids, and literally no one else)? I don't picture you needing therapy lol

My point was to say people saying obsessed bc people said they were upset
I don't correlate the two
