BOOKING A TRIP 9+ MONTHS IN ADVANCE?

I usually take my Son out of school when we travel, he is in 1st grade. Next year we are looking into going away with another family who has a DD in 4th and we are now leaning towards spring break vaca.

My question in, airfair.... when booking this far in advance is it better to book it ASAP, wait a little? Jet Blue doesn't open up fights until probably July-August so do we risk waiting for that?

We booked a disney cruise about 18 months before we went. (booked 5/2016, not cruising until 11/2017).
i haven't booked airfare yet, though. i've been doing a search on Kayak.com every day, to get an idea of prices. i think usually like 3 or 4 months before is a good time. Its so hard to know, though!! but i do find do a search on Kayak every day helps... and only takes a minute

This is a hard call.

I'd look at the airfare now and see if it's reasonable. Spring break is a really popular time to travel and the way Easter and Passover fall in 2018 - most kids will have the same spring break.

If it's ridiculous or on the higher end, I'd wait for JetBlue and see what they are offering the first day their fares come out.

DH and I travel every July to the USVI.
We've booked airfare as early as October. We grab reasonable fares as early as possible, since we travel business class.
We don't want to get stuck if we wait too long.

Download the app "Hopper". It'll tell you when the cheapest time to buy is based on historical info.
